The fix is pretty easy. I had to do this on my 73 dart with a 440. Get a cheap drop base air cleaner and then cut the bottom out of your factory dual snorkel. Weld it all up, finish it off and no one can tell the difference. I ended up using a 1" drop to clear my hood, and my best freind just had to do the same thing to his 70 cuda with a 440. I think he used a 3/4" drop to get it to clear.

You don't even have to cut your original base. (I wouldn't do that) If you want it to seal, buy a single snorkel (their cheap) & use that base, or... just put the drop base on it, then put snorkel top over the air filter. It'll be open around the bottom, but you can't see it. May even help breath a little better.

The newer style air cleaners are not like the one's from the sixties. They have the snorkles in the base and and the lid is separate. Even the singles of the seventies are the same. As far as cutting the base, it's simple, I first trimmed the drop base to fit inside the where the factory one has a slight ridge and then cut it along that ridge. Welded in the drop finished the welds off by grinding and using a bit of filler. Sanded, primed with high build primer, sanded again, painted it. By the way I saved the piece I cut out just in case I might ever want to put it back.
