So do you have the adapter yet? Moving the engine forward or??? How are you engaging OD? Cost of parts? Other info? We need info here!
No adapter, just a bell for the 440,Got it at JW , Cut the bellhousing off the 518 and bolt their bell on, no real mods, lower the crossmember and shorten the driveshaft, gonna wire a hidden push button in the truck, wire a pressure switch to the 3rd clutch and also install a vaccum switch.see the link....and scroll to the bottom to 518 conversions. www.transmissionsone.com

So your using a non-lock converter 518 trans? Is that jw bell about $280? What about getting a 90-93 2x truck 518 cross member and d-shaft? Are you using the switchs from that site? How are you building it as far as clutchs etc? Shift kit? Which rebuild kit? Let's get some pics. When does the building start?

Using the non-lock-up trans, don't want to worry about the clutch, and yes gonna use their switches, easier that way, gonna use a later model cross memeber and fabricate it,NO cutting up the org...actually gonna be easy, show ya ,when I get the lift in...

Why do you need to fab the newer crossmember? Should be a bolt-in right? Or does the JW bell move the trans back sightly? Or is it to keep from drilling more holes in the frame?
When does the lift go in?

Thanx for the JW web link 440se, what year 518 are you using? I would like to do some more of my own research on this, but am not sure on the cutoff for the NON lock up tranny. GREAT LOOKING GARAGE btw.

Not sure on the years, thinking 89-92 on the non lock-up.I am mainly sticking to a non lock-up because I can reuse my old torq converter,I had it modified to match the 440,was way to tight,as far as a shift kit, gonna make pretty much my own, with alittle help from a transco kit.If you can only find a lock-up,thats ok too,use the clutch or have it omited, you don't need it to work.76440,I don't want to drill holes,so I'm gonna find one in a yard and modify it to fit, thats the beauty of having a lift.. and the correct tools,oh yeah before you ask,I am building the trans and I am expecting 2nd and 3rd gear chirps...
