Here's the engine shot and what I'm starting with...

your heater hoses need to be rerouted away from the throttle linkage, you need those lines to go over drivers side fender. norm brady has the correct heater hoses.with the correct bends.

Thanks, I've been in contact with Norm Brady and have ordered some goodies from him...I was shocked to see those hoses going through there also !!! The owner obviously did'nt drive it much since he bought it....It's certainly no show car but we're going to correct most of the stuff we can at this point...Interior shot...

There's no stamping on the carb base that I can see on either one...I don't know much about the carb tags but these don't look like the usual carb tags I've seen...

Being that the base's are not stamped and the tag dates plus the SA,I would think they are over the counter replacements.

The carbs that are not stamped are factory installed carbs and the carbs that are marked on the base are over the counter. I was was under the impression that the tags with a bead around the edge and the three hash marks at the bottom of the tag were correct. Thanks for the great pictures.

There is allot of confusion surrounding 3705 carbs because they were made for MANY years after 64 production ended and sold over the counter. The most common thought is that production line versions were unstamped and only identified by the gold tags (stamped 3705S and having a ribbed tag design) however, some unstamped carbs were also sold over the counter, these would have similar gold tags but would be of various configuration depending on what vintage they were produced, some had the correct 3705S stampings on a ribbed tag but most wore later tags without the ribs stamped into them (like the examples shown above) and had "SA" after the 3705 rather than just "S". Then sometime after 64 production ended they started stamping the bases with 3705SA. The person who probably has the most experience with these carbs concerning these types of trivial details is Norm Brady, he has collected a (large) number of original 3705 carbs over the years and we've discussed it at length a few times, he knows his stuff! About the only consistancy with these carbs is that they are inconsistant!

Scott, as much as you've helped me over the years I made sure I snapped a pic of the block pad...I have'nt taken the paint off the pad and it's tough to get a good pic... As far as I can see the pad reads...Top row: 426 T PHC Bottom row is tough looks like : - 1- Depending how far we're going into this freshen-up I may try and talk the owner into stripping the pad for a better view...

Carb job looks very nice, great job

Thanks for the engine pad pic. It's likely that there is an "M" after the T, can you spell out all of the characters? some are hard to make out in your pic (A stripped of paint pic would be great!).
