Picked up another converter, really didnt need it but for $300 It was a steal.
Anyways..its not a Transbrake converter (XX) looks like it will go 5400-5600 flash. Aluminum stator converter. Built it "95"..But Paul said it was a "Stock Eliminator" deal. Thinking about putting it in my Father-in-Laws Duster in place of the GER in there now...
Its actually been a decent converter, but 4200 or so is about it.
Yes we plan have a Tranzact brake on the way...So looks like we are going to use a Non trans brake converter in a trans brake application...If we sent it back it's going to be minimal $250, new stator etc...Pretty much the same deal if we use it and tear it up..so we are probably going to try it out for one season anyhow, just to get the car sorted out, with the new Indy power.
If we have another $400 in the thing to completely replace everything..we still are money ahead...New converter is $900+ now.
Anyone using this converter with a transbrake?

I have used one in a 340 dart drag car--ran it with a brake and it did fine for several years---really a little too loose for cutting good footbrake lights but will do fine for what you are doing--and it will cost way more than $250 if it goes back to TA in my experience--more like the cost of a new one! I would run it like it is

not really who told you that? only way it would cost more if there were some kind of damage.

if you keep the launch rpm's low it will probably last for a while. if you leave on the mat you will be in trouble pretty quick.

I have a 4200 series for a 904, have used it for several years with a trans brake...

car is on two step at 3600 rpm then flashes to 5000+ with release of brake.

took it out last year for a new converter...but 60' are slower with newer converter..

it all depends on whats in it, how it was set up, any damage, and what up grades you get. a new converter is $950+ so thats a lot better than a new one.

Yea, I understood what Paul was saying. I guess back then the stator? was a completely different animal and that parts are no longer available so it would have to be converted to the new style.
