Nothing cooler than nostalgia funny cars, and front engine diggers! But everytime I look at one, I notice that if you're gonna wheel one of those babies, you pretty much have to set your jewels right there on the backside of the rearend..... Sorry, not for me.

Hay Rich ...do I get a HEFTY discount on a set of wires if I post a pic of mine ? (it is not yet together).

GOOD point about the rear-end being right "there" .. but how about ALSO - the trans being BETWEEN yerr legs ?

..

I recently saw the unrestored chassis of the FED that I drove some in 58 & 59. I can't believe we were stupid enough to crawl into that thing.

I bought plans from Mark Williams to build one one day. Whether I do or not time will tell, but they certainly look very cool!

I push started one a couple of years ago at Cordova, and THAT was scary enough ... I can't believe some of the stories these guys would tell about how it was racing back then..

Raced one in 60's. 392 with 671. The frame and equipment was really not as pretty as the one shown on this board. Narrowed 9" with metal seat. The front edge of the seat was right on the back of the 9". Push starts were real interesting. We had and old station wagon with a 2x12 for a bumper. "Hot car" staging was at the end of the track. At some tracks you pushed out on to the track and fired the car at about mid track, rolled to the area behind the starting line and the two dragsters criss-crossed to get to the correct lane.

I bought the Brougher&Reese Feuler from Cekus and Palmer in the early 70s,converted it to a B/Gas injecterd Hemi/clutchflite,I sold it to Matt Maunds "Uncle Bob Rudy" in the late 70s.185" Garlits chassis with Logghe torsion bar front end.It was a great experience not like other sports, basket ball ,football, baseball, raquet ball and most that require playing with one ball,Dragracing is like bullriding, each contestant must bring a pair of their own balls and they better have a pair of "BIG BALLS"

I had a 165" Woody Gilmore front engine dragster for 10 years, injected 400 wedge, Glide, ran 7.90's @ 168 like clockwork. Fun ride, wheels up launches and a little wiggle when it settled down. Sanborns piece is sweet, it'll be fast once he gets it dialed in. Oh, I went from the FED to an altered, and going to give the 400 some more cubes.

That twin is neat. I'm right down the road in Murfreesboro, and I'm building a twin engine AA/FA for myself. We should get together and talk about overkill sometime.
