Hi, I have a very nice, good working hemi TF 727 in a real hemi car that I'm getting ready to restore.

The issue is that it has been converted to one of those that shifts manually and backwards, with a B&M ratchet shifter.

Is it possible for me to make this work again with a normal shifter?

Is this something that a regular non-transmission guy can do without special tools?

How and with what?

Thanks,

Tim

You have to change the manual valve body for a regular one. I actually prefer the manual valve body, why do you want to change it?

<I love this guy!

It's a factory Hemi car and I'm restoring it back to stock.

Can I take a regular valve body from any 727?

Yes, but I don't know if there are internal differences between them or not.

You could also get something like THIS and have the best of both worlds and no one would know.

If it has a full manual valve body, regardless of forward/reverse shift pattern, internal changes have also been made to the servos and govenor, it's not just "drop a VB" and R&R

Tim, dose the car still retain the kick-down linkage/cable?,....or has that been removed for full manual VB operation?

All other linkage is gone. I have spares on linkage but I was hoping not to have to send this trans out to the rebuilder.

It works great if you ignore the reverse pattern and manual shifting.

In many cases when a RVMB is installed, all of the internal governor components are removed. This is a simple matter of replacing the missing parts but the Hemi governor weight is like no other so be sure you get the correct parts. Of course, a non-Hemi weight will work but it won't be correct.

....depending on the kit, or VB manufacturer used John, the front and rear servos often see various modifications/additions/deletetions of componets
