I have seen gains in using the bigger intakes but
never seen any on the exhaust side.... if you think
you need more intake it will gain

I think the reason for running different ratios is because most people run less lift and more duration on the exhaustt making it harder to get a smaller lobe lift on the exhaust then the intake on the profile they want because of the longer exhaust duration so they compinsate with a smaller exhaust rocker ratio. And the bigger ratio on the intake helps because it allows more lift and less duration.

On a serious motor there is a lot to be gained from doing that. The intake side will usually want as much rocker arm ratio that you can throw at it but that also increases the stress in the valve train. The logical extreme would be something like a 1.85/1.60 setup where you used different valve springs on the intake and exhaust. Typical bracket motor you don't need to do those tricks.

I've been thinking of going to a 1.7 intake rocker to go with my 1.6 jesels on the exhausts. I'd need to go to Ti intake valves and another spring. My engine builder thinks I'd pick up some ET and he's usually right
However circumstance dictates that I leave this for another season at least (no $$'s )
