I haven't been on here in a while. After I returned from Carlisle, I put the car away and went out to sea for a couple of months. I just got back a few days ago.

The trip up and back from Carlisle went great. I'm glad that my windshield wipers worked because it rained ALOT!

I've got a bunch of small things left to do on the car which I am going to tackle over the winter. Stripes, lower body molding, factory tachometer, console, etc. I am pretty much out of money right now so I will just have to work with what I have until my funds recuperate.

I did just adjust the valves and change the oil and plugs. It is running ridiculously well!! I actually had to bring it home last night and put it in the garage becasue if I stayed out any longer, I was bound to get in trouble.

That's a sweet car, nice work. I can appreciate your situation... military commitments limit your cars progress. After 20 years I am finishing my car.

One of my favorite cars on here. If you lived closer we could both take out our original Hemi cars and street race them. Not many of us hard core Hemi driver type guys left.

Well folks, it has been a while since I posted on here. It has been very crazy for the past 9 months. I have been to sea for most of it and it has really drained me. Fortunatly, I have just been assigned to a shore assignement for 4 years. And a promotion, to boot!! I am looking forward to it.

So, here are the updates: I thrashed on the car hard last year to get it to Carlisle which worked out great. It ran strong but I knew that I had a bunch of little things left to finish on it. Over the winter I put the stripes and the lower body moldings on. It really sets the car off now. I also finished putting the console in.

I had been driving the car HARD when my ship was inport. Super hard. It was basically my daily driver. A couple of weeks prior to me getting underway for my last patrol, I noticed that my temperature gauge was running a little warm, so I pulled into a parking lot to check it out. When I opened the hood, I noticed that my fuel pump was spraying fuel all over my header and atlernator. NOT GOOD.

I grabbed my truck and trailer and took it back to my garage. Since I have owned that car, it was the first time that it had been on a trailer. Anyways, I went out to sea and when I returned I put an electric pump on it and a new thermostat in it. Since then, I have been beating it senselessly. I can't help it.... That Hemi pulls so strong and I just loving shifting that four speed!

So, here is the plan: I purchased a set of M/T's, a line lock, and a helmet. It is time to go racing!! Hopefully I can hit the track by the end of the summer.

Sheldon, I wish you were closer. I have been dusting off ALL the folks that try to take me. Its almost funny because they usually get several car lengths on me when we take off but once I get the Hemi traction in second gear it is all over for them. It literally rolls by them like they are standing still. There may be engines and cars that are better than the Hemi, but not to me. The Hemi is IT for me.

Second, that car is awsome!

Time for an update. First of all, I just want to say thanks for all of the comments. You guys have no idea the fun I am having with this car. Everyone should have a Hemi as their daily driver.

So, my plan was to take this car to the track but I have been having to do a bunch of little things to it. I drive this car to work nearly every day and I have to keep up with all of the maintenance on it.

I did get the M/T's on it and what a differance it made. Wow! I can actually hook now. The rear suspension is basically stock with an extra leaf that I have two clamps on each side. It seems to work great.

A few weeks ago I was playing around with my buddy's supercharged 2011 Mustang. His car is pretty bad. It's dyno'd at over 500 hp to the wheels. The first time I took him but the second time he got by about half a fender and I could not get by him. That was the first time anyone has beaten me. But.... I thought the Hemi was a little sluggish. More on that later.

The next day we drove to see 68jim and his '68 Hemi Road Runner. Of course it rained hard and the Hemi was not running that well. So, instead of going home, we decided to drive down to NC. On the way back we stopped and the car would not start. The battery was completely dead. I fixed that situation and the car instantly felt better. I have no idea how long I was just running on the battery. So, I ran the car hard all the way home to "clean the plugs". Nice.

The throttle also stuck once which made me check it once I got home. As you can see, it was only held together by 5 of the strands of the cable. And it was not allowing me to open the carbs all the way! I put a new one on and now it feels like the Hemi should! It's time to have a rematch with that Mustang......

So, I took a full Saturday and did all sorts of work to the car becasue I had been beating it so hard. Sunday I took it out and I could hear some rattling in the trunk area. I took it home and I found that the rear shock crossmember had broken the welds loose. I think a combination of the M/T's and poor factory welds were to blame. A few minutes with the MIG and we were back in business.

I was also using a little bit of oil. Sure enough, all of my intake bolts were loose. I changed the gaskets a few months ago and they had loosened up. I should know better! I have been through this before with a Hemi. I tightened them up and I am now good to go.

Since then, I have been just burning through hundreds of gallons of gas. I had it out tonight cruising around and it is AWESOME!
