To repeat myself one more time, ChryslerCorp built cars for their dealers to sell and people to drive. They built engines with actual compression ratios lower than advertised because there would be fewer complaints about pinging or knock. They knew that racers would blueprint the engines anyway and so gave them decent specs to work with. Never mind that one usually has to cut about 0.060 off a cylinder head to get it to measure to "stock" volume.

Your take on the situation (which I read a few months ago), was one of the reasons I stated not to believe the claims, but measure.
What you say makes a lot of sense.

"Hey mister, something's wrong with your car, it idles roughly" - number one comment I got in Israel when daily driving a 70 Barracuda with a lopey cam.

Currently working on - 1966 Dodge A100 van 318/auto
Finally - disc brakes on the front.
In the plans - rear disc brakes, B&M 250 blower
