So, If I were to locate a dana-60 out of a truck and it had 4.11 gears as I have now, would the stock gears and axles live better than the 8 3/4 stuff I`m running now? Maybe adding a billet cover w/support bolts? Thankxxxx.....

Dominic, you can change the side gears in the Dana posi to 30 spline, which was stock in the pre 1970 GM 3/4 truck Dana 60. That spline is the same as the 8 3/4 splines so you can possibly use the same axles and brakes as you have now if you have it narrowed to the same width as your 8 3/4, that is what I did on my Dana. The other option is to sell your 8 3/4 complete and buy another set of axles to use in that rear end. Do you know anyone that has a set of rear brakes with drums off of a C,E, B body or a half ton truck or van? You will need to buy a set of axle (bearing) ends(buy the Moser brand ) also from Summit or Jegs to have welded onto the truck rear housing after you have the truck ends cut off That is what I had to do on my Dana rear end, the other thing is the axle housing diameters, stock 8 3/4 and the mopar Dana 60 are three inches, most of the 3/4 truck and van rear ends are either 3 1/8 or 3 1/4 diameter which means your U bolts and spring perches off the 8 3/4 won't work You will need to get the proper U bolts and you can salvage the spring perches off of the rear end and move them to where you need them and weld them back on. I have the set of perches off of the Dana I used, it is a Ford housing that is 3 1/8 diameter, let me know if you need or want them

Dominic I sold my 8 3/4 out of my dart and got $1000 cash for it I used that money to fund another junk yard truck dana conversion... this is my 2nd I did and if you shop around you can get a dana overall cheaply done or put the money towards a S60... I went extra with this time around. here is what it will look like under your dart It just give me that sense of security all parts suplied by dr diff! (minus girdle)

Even better yet, look in the race parts for sale section to find one that is ready to bolt into your application with bullet proof 40 spline componenets.

Thankxx guys..........I would much rather buy one done up then have the perches welded where I need em and have em fully boxed in than start from scratch.

The Dodge truck dana are 30 spline, so find one with 4.11s and a posi, cut the Dana to your width and run your 8 3/4 axles... and yes the stock Dana ring/pinion is stronger... I wiped out numerous aftermarket 8 3/4 rings, to date havent harmed my 70s truck dana ring... Then later buy a 35 spline spool and axles and your undestructable...

Hell no.........for now it looks like BOTH of us are. I plan up stepping up the program down the road and plan on making a bit more power and don`t want Quicktree to say "I told you so". Thankxx BB70duster, that`s kinda what I had in mind.

I havn't even dialed mine in yet 1.389 60' so far. Stock caps and NO Back Brace

My best ET listed in my sig, I was out of it @ 1000' and on the brakes

Maybe Quicktree's afraid to push the limits
