If you want to retain the air grabber air cleaner the answer is yes. If you just want to run the hood without the fiberglass under the hood you have more room. I run a RPM on my 70 with a 2.5" drop base and my lid just hits the bulge hood.
Ken, With the RPM, how is it with the air grabber 440 base? I have a '71, but the clearance should be the same. Jim

I could probably get the base on but never the top half which seals it to the hood.

Wait a minute...is this with a RB stroker or a BB stroker?
The 383/400 block is lower and i thought that the AG setup could still function with an RPM manifold and the 440 air cleaner.

I built a 505 stroker based on a 440 block and used a performer RPM intake. I bought a fibreglass air cleaner base and cut a large hole in the middle (around 13"), then fibreglassed a 1 3/4" drop-base to it. Hood clears the air cleaner and the base seals nicely.
