I WANT to build a street/strip car, big tires, maybe a 4 link or ladderbar rear, the aluminum hemi, 8-71 blower when I can afford that but right now I have a tunnelram w/2 dominators, probably a gm trans, I thought about a new chassis but depends on the cash, etc.

I have a couple Very Talented Friends that I will be using to Help get this project underway this fall of 2010 HOPEFULLY.

My plans are to drive it to the close car shows (around 50 miles or less)and be able to run it at the track and run 9's with it. (pulley change for more boost)
The shows farther away I will trailer it too.

Right Now I wll be Happy to get it running and together and worry about the other stuff later.
If I need to I will put in a 440 just to get it drivable till I can afford the Hemi stuff. (rocker systems are the expensive parts)

This is all subject to change if there isn't enough money to do it right. I also need to restore my A12 RR so one of these 2 I will get started on.

Question for you guys??
Is the cutout in the frame on the side rail by the oil pan for the steering??
We got this car in pieces and I am not sure if that is stock or someone modified that or ??
It's the half rounded notch. photo 3 is the easiest photo to see it in. It is by the oil fitting.
Thanks David

David, That cutout isn't stock (although it does look pretty well done). I bet it was modified for some steering system. Boy I like the looks of that hemi! Wish I could get one too. Maybe some day. It does look like your body was in similar shape to mine. How wide is the back of the valve covers? When you do a recessed firewall, how wide does the recess area need to be to clear the backs of the valve covers? Were you able to view the Flickr picture file I sent you? Bob

I sent you an e-mail Bob.
I will have to measure the width of the hemi and get back to you.

I did see your flicker photos and all I can say is WOW.
Do you need another project??? one for more practice and little pay??? LOL

Later David

David, I got the email. Thanks for the supportive comments. As far as another project goes, I'm kind of over my head already. I have four 36's, and I really need to focus and finish this one. But thanks for the offer. Bob

If anyone is looking ..

My brohter has a 36 Plymouth coupe and about another half of one (no extra body) but fenders, and grills, etc,etc

I doubt he will ever, ever do anything with sitting inside his shop ..

It would be a big project if anyone has the ambition to complete it , it has a M-2 front done, that it

Nah, can't get pics, its piled in the corner of the shop with a bunch of stuff piled on it .

Sioux Falls , so dak ..57105 is the zip code

It looks just like the pic above .

Was torn to pieces 15 years ago and its in a heap , he has a bunch of extra parts

Its a shell( decent one) sitting on a frame and everything else is scattered about the shop corner , guy could get it all pretty fair but, he is a no BS kind a guy and really will not put allot of effort into selling it due to the hassle , you would have to just show up with a little green .. no tire kickers ..

Its a huge project and very few could finish it but lots of parts

no motor, trans, etc

rolls thats about it

Honest, if you were to take a pic of his 36 ..

It would look just like this, less the motor

Not kidding, thats what made me think of it

Here are a few pics of my '55 Belvedere in the middle of the straight axle install. The front sheet metal is just hanging there for mock up purposes.

Mine drives really good until, when you hit rough highway you feel it.
I just don't know that the added expense of converting it is worthwhile.
I have driven this one on trips of 400 miles and 95% of that time it's smooth sailing.

Would like to update it though.
