They are a pretty basic carb to rebuild. They (or very similar versions) were put on allot of early big blocks in 65, 66 & 67, 383's, 426 Wedges, and 440's included. Not a big power carb, just a good all around street cruiser carb. Edelbrock purchased the rights to the Carter name and continues to manufacture carbs from the original tooling but with some changes.

Here's what the one above looked like "Before" gives you and idea of how bad they can start out and how nice they can be when done.

On all AVS's & AFB's it's stamped on the face of the passenger side front foot, on Thermoquads it's stamped into the drivers side rear facing foot face. On Holley 4 Barrels it's stamped on the passenger side rear of the air horn.

Here's a Thermoquad #

Scott I have no idea.Havent looked at them in years.I had both off my 60 Dodge.Cant remember if both are still there. If I remember correctly a few have the big adjustment screw in the center besides the 2 small screws.I have some Holleys also that my buddy gave me that are wierd. He said they were supposedly off old Ford factory race car.Just put them in the garage.Kind of like the thermoquad thats sitting on the shelf. My buddy rebuilt it and gave it to me.Rocky

Scratchy, that carb has manual secondaries. It is probably 500cfm or less. They came on 426 wedge, 440, and 383's IIRC. I have 3 or 4 of them.

It would work good on a slant.

www.moparfins.com is where I got the info. They have an extensive carb list.

BTW they take a smaller neck air cleaner.

You'll notice there is no counter weights or airvalves in the secondary side.

4 1/4" neck. An that funny looking cyclops thingy on the front!
