The windshield on my 72 Fury Wagon is scratched up on the drivers side from what appears a stone from a ring(diamond)

I do have a good windshield in my 72 Town and Country Wagon.

Are the windshields in these 2 vehicles interchangeable? They are both C body wagons and both the same year.I know alot of other stuff DOES interchange between the two vehicles.

Next question is:

If I take the windshield out of the 72 Town and Country, and then take the glass and the 72 Fury to a Glass shop, will they be willing to install it even though its not a windshield I purchased from them?

Think there would be warranty issues on the install? Such as,they wont issue a warranty on thier labor because its a used piece of glass?

The glass shops I spoke with recently were willing to remove/install the glass I brought to them for an old car. They wouldn't come to my house to remove/install.
I don't know about your glass interchangability.

NOBODY will warranty glass breakage on a used windsheild.... Too many pits and nicks that promote a "run" to happen....

When you cut glass you scribe a weak point that "runs" the glass... Used WS has many many potiential scribe marks......

Why not just have them install a new windshield?

Not sure on what an actual replacement would cost, but I have a good windshield in my parts car. As far as the warranty is concerned,im not really even concerned about it,I was just thinking out loud and wanted some feedback about the issue. And its as I figured on the warranty.

I called 1 glass shop in town and they said if I bring them the glass and the car, they'll install it for around $130 labor and materials.

Im not in dire need of replacing the windshield right this moment,I was just trying to figure things out and if it was even possible for a glass shop to install a piece the customer provides.

I think a new windshield in my '68 Dodge truck was around $100. They guys doing he install said, come see the difference. The old glass was thicker and much heavier. The new glass was a great brand, Pilkington ... you know, the guys that invented modern float glass. If you've got a great old piece of glass I would likely use it. But, the problem with old glass is that it simply gets more and more brittle over time. With the older glass it kind of is a crap shoot.

I use to fear that part too but when I called and asked, "How much?" I was pleasantly surprised. So maybe it won't be that bad.
Nothing like looking through a clear windshield.
