E body tach on a freinds car reads to high, any suggestions on this, thanks.

did he put a msd box in it? if so you'll need a tach adapter from msd.

also sometimes when you add the tach adapter the tach will read a little higher, its not liking the old eectronics in the factory tach, you'll need to send it out and get modern electronics put in it to get it to work properly.

Could need to be calibrated. How high does it read?
I once had a tach read double the actual RPMs. I lived with it until one day the car wouldn't start. The resto coil was the culprit. A new coil and the car started...BUT - it also solved my tach problem. Must have been an internal short or break in the coil, I don't know. But the tach reads correctly now with the new coil, FWIW.

Thanks for that piece of info, he or i should have a good coil to try, see what happens.
