Thanks for the pictures!! Since these are now installed, we do not get a sense of the level of work you had to do, but I am left with one question for Rob (ragtopdodge ).

In the earlier post you stated your car had original pans - the pictures show a car with lots of welds and what looks like the dimples one see's in the new (reproduction) floor pans - curious which it is?

Original floor pans. Well...as long as I've owned the car (since 1987).

Just added a ton of welds everywhere to help stiffen things up some.

Hi all, new here, I installed the XV SubFrame connectors on my 69 charger, there was some grinding to do and had to press the floor pan down before welding for a good fit, but I expected that in a 40 year old car. My car's drivers side was the worse fit, as someone had used a jack on that side. I have install pics at
http://www.jkruse.com/_Project_Sinister_69/Bodywork.html
I update the site a lot and right now I am installed the front and rear level II units with brakes from XV, hope it helps!

Hey Guys,

Sure fit way to do this is. Take some rect. tubing (taller than the tallest demension needed), Measure the narrowest dimension (at the rear attachment pt.) level & attach the tube that same amount off the floor pan. Lets say it's 2". Mark the tube at the front 2" off the bottom edge. Now take a compass (for drawing circles) & starting at the rear of the pan, run the pointed tip against the pan & the pecil on your tube. Do this to the front of the pan & you will have a line that matches the floor pan perfectly. You have to make sure that the compass stays perpendicular to the tube, or the line won't be consistent. Cut on the line with a jig saw or plasma & you're go-to-go.

I bought a set of the U.S. Car Tool frame connectors for my 69 rr.After several days trying to get things to line up,I gave up and called John.
He asked if I had oe floor pans and I told him yes.I also told him that the car had been abused for most of its life.He explained to me that after 30 years of flexing ,things might not line up correctly and even though I had cut on mine heavily to try to make them fit,he purchased them back with no hassle whatsoever!
I've since purchased their driveshaft loop and the fit is perfect and no problems there.
John

I like Killerwolf's scribe method.

I bought a se at Carlisle last summer and i am trying to fit my connectors.
I find that the cuts are all very sharp as opposed to round like my floor pan.
my car is a very clean old mans car that sat in an underground parking garage for 20 years,
it's not height but the shape.
I think I will do the 2x3 tube.

I installed the US Car Tool connectors in my 70 Challenger and it was pretty uneventful. It might have taken a couple of hours worth of fitting and grinding but the fit was really close to start with.

I tried to sell my US Car Tool sub frame connectors to a friend that builds cars, he is building a 73 Challenger now.
He said ya sure I'll us the connectors, so I brought them up to his shop and this what he gave me back.
He also said thanks but no thanks.

Maybe they are for a different car the floors have round strength ribs and the subs are very sharp angles.
I don't have the time to mess around with $200.00 pieces of ill fitting steel, when I can do it in less time with tube steel through the floor and for $20.00 in materials.
Little disappointed.

When I started the installation of my US CARTOOL e-body sub frame connectors I expected fitment issues from the start as I was working with a 72’ b-body. The forward sub frames and floor pans are the same however the rear sub frames are located more outboard than the e-body’s. There was a rework of most of the contours and required an angled sectioning of the connector itself. As a hobbyist and not a professional auto body guy by any standards I didn’t find this installation practically difficult. The end result far exceeded my expectations. My dealings with US CARTOOL, on the sub frame connectors and with the rotisserie kit I purchased from them, where one the most pleasant experiences of any of the venders I‘ve had to deal with on this project.

My Charger is going in in February (hopefully) to get the US Cartool subframe connectors installed. I will post here when I get the verdict on fitment.
