A guy on another forum thinks he has an H wheel. It's a 15" wheel, but he's unsure of the width -- 6" or 6.5" maybe. H stamped near the lug holes. Said GG "thinks" it's a Hemi wheel and made him an offer (lowball he suspects) for it. I'll try to get the stamping numbers. How to confirm?

Pics, but no part numbers.

I think the 70-71 cars came with a special steel wheel that has the same outer hoop as a rallye wheel. Not sure if those are supposed to have an H stamped into them???? I don't see a pic of them on that website.

The '69 H-wheel doesn't have a (Mopar) part number stamped on it just the Motor Wheel Company plant code and manufacture date, etc., There are more than just one type of H-wheel out there so a photo would be of big help to ID it....here's a small H-wheel in the trunk of an earlier than '69 car.

The H wheel that is the sought after one (for the A12 guys) is the 15 x 6 JJ. That 15 x 6 JJ will be stamped on the outer rim hoop where the tire will cover it. The tire must be removed to see it. It will also have a large H stamped in the flat between the lug holes at the eight o'clock position, when the wheel is placed with the valve stem hole at the 12 o'clock position. The 1969 H wheels don't have part number or pentastar stamped into them, but will have the manufacturer code, date, and 6.0 stamp near the valve stem hole - designating the 6 inch wheel width.

Chrysler had later 15 x 6.5 "H" wheels up through the mid 70s, but the H stamping is much smaller. These later wheels will have the Pentastar, part number, manufacturer code, and date code stamped near the valve stem hole.

Hope this helps.

also note the '69 H-wheels have 3- "dimpled" "nubs" for the hub cap, not 4 or 3 undimpled, and the valve stem is in alignment with one of the three nubs when at the 12-O'clock position and as mentioned the "H" stamped at the 8-O'clock position.

Good points and pics MikeR. Not to create controversy, but I have seen one or two H wheels without the dimples in the nubs.

VERY early '69 model year, as well as '70-'72 H-wheels do not have the dimples.

Early July 68 dated H wheels do not have the dimples. July wheel is the middle wheel in picture.

What is the correct paint finish on 1969 1/2 A12 Road Runner wheel? Flat, semi or gloss black?

Gloss black IMO. I think the semi or satin finish comes from age.

Thanks for your input Mike.

Seen a couple of pics of the survivor '69 Bee and looks like an orange peel gloss to me

Just bumping the thread up for my buddy to learn about these wheels since the search feature won't work AGAIN!

if Galen wants it, it's either an A12 wheel or a 1970-1971 '450' wheel. Full stop.

Can anyone tell me if the number 870 is also stamped in this area?

How many of those are H-wheels? I am looking for one with a specific date to complete a set.

Just one.

Inner hub says 3 16 & by valve stem 5 16

Inner & outer are both stamped M5 over 9, so Motor Wheel Plant 5 - 1969.

Original paint color may have been Y4 gold.

Photos.

In the first photo, finger at the Y4 paint under the old wheel weight & thumb at the H;
