I am picky there is nothing wrong with the spindles that would cause them not to work but there is a few things that I don't like about them. The spindle is not centered exactly, that will cause the bearing seal to be off center. The tie rod holes are not drilled exactly in the center of their bosses. So with that said the spindles are fine to use I just like everything to be right.

4.5 pattern rotors: Early Dakota 2wds used this bolt pattern and had the larger outer bearing.
Think I could use that technique as a pattern for doing a 5 lug swap on a 2003 Dakota?

No, your 2003 uses a sealed hub and the older stuff is typical inner and outer bearings on a spindle shaft.
Damn. Any way around that?

Not sure, isnt yours 5 bolt anyways? I'm not sure what the pattern is though....
You *MIGHT* be able to have the rotors and hub redrilled.
Outcast Dodge guy.

Nope, they ran 6 lug from 92-04.

I have all of suspension took apart media blasted and new poly bushings put bacck innew ball joints outer tie rods. I am just now waiting for Eric at MId America Customs for my lower control arms. Oh we talked on here about the differences in the 87-90 and the 90-96 Dak spindles. The difference is that the 87-90 will not accomodate the ram tie rod and the 90-96 will so I ended up having my tie rod(87-90) holes machined out for my tie rod plus I also had them macchined so that the tie rod would go in from the top. RambleBee glad to hear that your truck has dropped 5" I hope mine does the same. It should I am going the same route as you.

Thanks for the update---Did you get an alignment? Any issues?
Its been aligned and everything has been fine. No bumpsteer at all, you can let go of the wheel at any speed and it will stay right where you have it pointed. Ive read that some people have had quality issues with the Chassis Tech spindles but mine were ok. Maybe I got lucky. I had to run a tap through the threads in the dust shield mounting holes to clean up the threads but other than that they were fine.

Now about the 87-90 spindles, I did a little checking on tie rod end taper deminsions. Earlier in the thread it was dicovered that there was a tierod end change on the Ram trucks in 79. I found that the 87-90 Dakota taper is the same as 72-78 Ram. So what this should mean is that you can use 87-90 Dak spindles on 72-78 Rams and use 91-96 Dak spindles on 79-93 Rams and not have to change outer tierod ends. If I had known this I would have bought the 87-90 spindles. If the only difference is the taper deminsions I wouldnt have had to mess with finding the larger tierod ends.

Im not sure what year truck you are working on, if its 79-93 you should be able to use your stock tierod ends with the 91-96 Dak spindles. The Dak steering arm is shorter than the Ram so you may still need to use the longer C-body adjusting sleeve. I used the 91-96 spindles on my 73.The van ends I used carry the same part # as 79-93 Ram. From what I learned while doing my truck, use 87-90 Dak spindles for 72-78 Rams and 91-96 Dak spindles on 79-93 Rams this should allow you to use the stock tierod ends. You can use either spindle on any truck its just a matter of finding the right combination of parts.I did a quick summary of parts earlier in the thread. If your truck has the larger inner wheel bearing(84-up) then that makes it that much easier. Let me know if you need help. Im always lurking on here.
Sorry, yes, it is a 1985 D100. So what should I ask for at the parts store for the adjusting sleeve? I don't know what a C body is
Do you know if there are any good springs out there that will lower the truck about 2" ? I think the dakota spindles plus a 2" spring drop would be perfect for what I want.
