Yes! The paint is not the original factory type paint so why try and make it look stock? The base clear system is too nice not to finish it the way it was designed to be done.

Very nice Eric
I'd go body colour and shiny everywhere if it were me.
Good luck with the rest of the resto!

In the Yin/Yang that is life that pic was taken Thursday, and this next one was taken Friday. I was actually on the phone with Scott Smith when this happened. Mind you I was going 45mph....I'm OK, just sore.

IMO, I think glossy and smooth is more accepted in the show car arena. Don't try to duplicate the factory imperfections. Only a select few will appreciate the standards of originality but it really depends on what you want.

Well I can see both sides of the coin. But from my perspective I would rather error on the side of "looks too nice" than later be disappointed you didn't go far enough. Plus with time, that super glossy look will fad a bit, and bring it down just a tad. I once put my challenger together and put 2 mufflers on it and 2 resonators on it, because I thought I wanted it quiet like it was originally. But after a while I really figured out what I wanted. So I learned from that. But my lesson isn't as expensive as yours. Car looks sweet though.

I agree Eric, since you went base clear you will take a hit concerning OE, but only a minor one. Go ahead and shine it up. HOWEVER, I'd highly reccomend a proper OE style grey sealer/primer with color over spray from the sides on the underside just like you have now. The fully painted undercarriage is a dated (and incorrect) look from back in the days that many people just didn't know any better. If you ever decide to sell the car I can gaurantee you that it will drive away a good many potential buyers.

*On the frame....Grind it, fill it, smooth it, carefully fog on some red paint to cover the work

Thanks Scott....I hope you know that was the finished product:) It's showing up lighter and shinier than normal because that's in the paint booth with all the flourescents blasting.

On the framerail question...there is a corresponding hole on the other side, so are you saying punch it out and fix it or smooth it over?

my buddies wanted me to paint the bottom of the car. I am sooooo glad I didn't. Love the overspray look. To me it just looks right. Just like ma mopar did it.

Your car is looking good.

Don't touch the frame rail!
That's a stock impression.
The hole is only punched on the driver's side.

Informal poll: Should I have them wet sand it to a ridiculously perfect glass sheen or leave it with some orange peel

EW

IMHO,....nothing looks better than a slick mirror finish
