I'm happy with my '65 Belvedere and molded scoop hood. It took 3 months to get it. Quality piece.

I bought a scoop from WS...waited for months after I paid up front. It showed up unannounced after I begged them to call me when it shipped. We opened it up, took one look at it sitting on the hood of my car and proceeded to toss it in the dumpster out back of the shop. To this day I can usually tell a WO/RO23 'glass hoodscoop from WS because they all have the same characteristics of crappy-ness. If they would send me a new, decent scoop at no charge I'd stop holding a grudge but at the time I was just getting rolling in life and still had to budget for little stuff. It would have taken one 1/4" of filler in spots to make that scoop right! Open challenge to WS: Send me a decent quality scoop to make screwing me over right.

One pass and here is what I got for my almost $800. I fixed it up correctly and once we got done putting it back together and making it fit correctly it looked nice
The way that scoop was mounted was flat-out WRONG. It should have been glassed-in from the bottom.

It was when we got done. What you see there is as it arrived, also unannounced so when the truck showed it was a total surprise with COD for shipping BTW. We did it right but took 20+ hours of work to make it right. never again woudl I deal with those guys. The scoop looked like it was held on with that gap filler foam crap for your home.
We were pressed for time so we installed it and went to the track that night. Installed the 10 dzus buttons and off we went. At about 900' mark the scoop went airborn, followed by the hood from the air pressure I guess. Car was not all that fast as it's best was 9.02 at 149.

Well...on a positive note, there are a couple of guys happy with them and I really hope that you are the recipient of a good product as well. But when the topics of fiberglass comes up on this forum, WS never gets a positive nod. My friend ordered a hood and bumper for his 66 Satellite and it was nothing more than an expensive Potatoe chip. It was horrible. The parts were so bad that three different body shops wanted more money to fix them than what he paid. I would not recommend them to anybody because of that experiance.. Maybe they have changed, different owners, operators, employees fo the better and maybe you will get a nice piece. Wish you luck.

First time at the track I had to duct tape the front of mine down. On my first pass with it on, right around the 1000 foot mark the hood bent up in the center and left about a 1 inch gap between the hood and fender.
Adding two more pins in the center solved the problem.

WOW I can't belive all the bashing going on. The most asked question on this forum is about fiberglass and where to buy. WS usally got very few if any negative comments. Now they are coming out of the wood work.
whoo boy, you sure opened up a can o worms, but i think we're all glad you got a good piece.
This thread is reminding me of the ones bout GER convertors. Despite everybody finding them to be junk, a few lucky souls actually liked the ones they bought!

There stuff is race stuff. Its not quality,
Let me fix that....
I actually stopped bashing them at every opportunity because I got flamed with the old "it's race quality" (bs), "They are good guys" (not to me!), and "they made mopar stuff when noone else did" (so what?). Bottom line is they ripped myself and many other off. While they may be nice people they are lousy glass layers and even worse businessmen. Say what you will, facts are facts.

RACE stuff can and SHOULD be quality. Now it is EZier to make a HEAVIER part more "quality" ...as has been shown by one company mentioned here.
But then this company makes their stuff with white gel-coat. That HIDES a bunch. And then they also PAINT many of their parts on the underneath.
BEWARE of that practice...from any supplier.

Everytime I see one of these fiberglass threads it makes me glad I bought my hood from VFN. I got it on time, on budget, and no surprises. I took my VFN hood out of the box and we set it right on the car. The ONLY thing we did to this hood was to install the Dzus fasteners. NO BODYWORK. I once got fooled into buying a "cheap" fiberglass rear bumper for my car from some crappy company in Florida. I had it painted with the car and then found out it was about 4 inches wider than the car. So I painted my stock bumper and the glass bumper has been sitting in my garage rafters ever since. Cheap is not cheap at all if it falls apart or never fits in the first place.

FWIW, My decklid took little to no work to prep it for paint The hood only needed the scoop seam smoothed (I told them to leave it that way) as well as smoothing the imprint of the R/T decal that was molded into it.
Both fit nicley before they went to the body shop for paint.
I hope your luck is as good as mine was.

Good luck with that....Of course you can drive over that might help a lot. I waited 9 months for a hood from those guys. One excuse after another. When it showed the shipping was double what I was quoted and the hood well lets just say it was not the best I have seen. One pass and here is what I got for my almost $800. I fixed it up correctly and once we got done putting it back together and making it fit correctly it looked nice
Almost exactly the same experience I had. Their customer services is HORRIBLE!

Well, here I get to tell everyone, that I haven't had ONE decent peice of fiberglass from anyone so far. Here is my scrap list. Unlimited, hood, at least 50 hours to make fit, still on the car, weighs a ton. Junk. Kramer, a "carbon fiber" SS/AA hood that weighed within two pounds of the Unlimited hood. Mr Know-it-all didn't realise that a friend had one that was featherlite before shooting off his mouth. Sent it back, never got my freight credit. Junk, owes me (actually my wife and mom) $130.00 in freight. U.S Body Source, fiberglass fenders. There's no way I can begin to describe how bad they were. Also owes me $65.00 freight for the trip back for the "technical inspection". Junk. Glasstek, pair of fiberglass doors, again a gift. Don't even come close to the dimensions (WAY too small, gaps big enough all the way around to throw a cat through, bottom edges pulled in almost "1) of a very "rare" car, a 67-76 A Body. Junk. Is there even a vendor that doesn't have to be fantastic, just competent out there?
