I see that selection is pretty limited in these sizes nowadays. Are the goodyear eagles in these sizes any good?

Does anyone still make more than a 275/60/15?

I'm not sure.

Pep boys used to have them in the 295 sizing in the Futura Super Sport line.

Pep Boys went out of business here in Wichita, though...

The 295/50-15 is available in Cooper Cobra, Firestone Firehawk Indy 500, Mickey Thompson S/T Radial and Mastercraft Avenger GT (an off brand Summit Racing sells). I haven't seen BF Goodrich or Goodyear tires in this size lately. If a company would make a 275/55-15 it would be perfect for me since a 275/60 is too tall for what I want so I run 295/50s on the rear of my Satellite.

I just bought a set of Maxxis Marauders, they come in all the muscle car sizes.
Also H speed rating with AA and 360 tread wear.
Nice big tread blocks so to minimize on the squirm.
I got 245/60x15 and 275/60x15
heres a look if interested.

Does nobody make a 295/60/15? I run 275/60/15 and that size is still very commonly available but I would like a little wider. A 295/60/15 on a 10" rim would be perfect. And I'm talking about a regular street radial, I know all kinds of sizes are available in a drag radial.

Yes there are options at 275/60 and 295/50... those 295/60 BFG above look really nice, but I don't think they are available anymore for some reason.

The 295/60/15 is 29" tall, which seems like a nice height, I think the alternative for that height is a 255/70/15.

The 295/60/15 looks like a nice size tire. I wish they would make them. The 255/70/15 might be too skinny in my opinion.

And the unfortunate thing is 295/50/16 is made, which is about the same diameter as a 275/60/15, however rim choice in a 16x10 is pretty lousy unless you want truck rims.

I'd be interested in buying those 295/60 BFG's if you ever decide to sell.

As far as I know, the only 295/60's available new are bias ply Hoosier Quick Times. I currently run 295/65 BFG Drag Radials, but was also looking for a more traditional radial tire for extended street duty. 275/60's are too small for my application.

If they dont fit or look right under my 72RR I will keep you in mind bro...Your car looks killer with the Magnums and big fat blackwalls all around...Goes real nice with the color combo on your ride..

Yes that does work out to basically the same size as a 295/60/15, but summit lists those tires at 211 bucks each! Nice size and available, but for a lot more $ than a 295/50/15 street radial.

I'm in the market for new tires for my truck and would love to have something that is as tall as a 275-60-15 only wider.

295-50-15 are not tall enough for a 1/2 ton pickup, and the M/T tires don't look like they would work in the wet or light snow otherwise I'd buy them.

You can buy Pro-Trac??? bias ply tires that are fairly big, but they are expensive + they aren't a radial tire. I don't want to spend more money and go backwards in the handling department.

Yokohama AVID ST, Firestone Indy 500, Goodyear Eagle GT, BFG Radial TA and if you want a sticky tire there are TA drag radials in that size.

I've tried all the first 3 tires.

The BFs are the best looking tire, nice clean sidewall. Clean up nice, shine up nice and worth mentioning since many of us take pride in cleaning up and showing off our cars but the fact is these are the worst tires built today for any type of performance or rain driving.

The Indy's are a decent tire too. Pretty average in every catagory but a bit noisey for a quiet car. Totally not a problem on a musclecar. These are super impressive in the rain. Not quite an accurate gauge but I could stretch the front shocks during takeoff with the Indy's in that rain.

The Yoke's. For a relatively cheap tire they are one of the smoothest, most quiet tire. Mine look like almost new after 30,000km of spirited driving. Again not quite the gauge most here are used to but I've went 2.0 60's with a stock 360 truck. These are the first regular tire I've had on my 5 speed truck I can go wide open throttle in first and hook.

Where did you end up getting the 295/60's? I have a pair of Dunlop 295/50's that are the perfect width, but too short for my Coronet.

Here is one of the best threads I have ever come across regarding performance 15" tires; http://www.pro-touring.com/forum/showthread.php?t=34692

If you just want round shoes for your show and shine cruising, get what ever is cheapest. They will probably dry rot before you wear them out, so you'll want a cheap price tag to replace them every few years.

Cool. I appreciate that.

285/70/15's are another option for me, but I cannot see paying a bunch of $$$ for those from Coker Tire. (We always ran those on our '64 Savoy while on the street.)

Here's another shot of the 295/65's. Those extra-long wheel studs will be going bye-bye over the winter...to be replaced with some shorter studs attached to some Strange axles.

I don't think Yokohama makes those tires anymore. The tire rack used to have them listed and they are nowhere to be found.

I had a set of yokohama tires on a mustang and really liked them.

BluesCuda, I'm diggin' the way your wheel/tire setup fills those wheelwells.
The thing I notice on my '68 RR is that my 265/50 & 295/50 tires (on 15x8 steelies ft/rear) don't have enough sidewall height. Thinking of going to 15x10, 5.5BS, with those 295/60s, but we have a fair amount of gravel on the roads around here...

I too am looking for a 295/60 HR 15.

As Magnmun said above, the Firestone Indy 500' in 215/65 HR 15 on my wifes 98 Buick, I have a hard time busting them loose wet. They will in a corner but when I stomp it at a light, that 3.1 power house wont bust them loose. When I had a set of BFG's T/A's or the G-Y triple treads, I could spin them anytime wet or dry. Best wet driving tire I have ever used, and I know wet driving.

One of the worst RATED wet tires out there is the B-Stone Potenza RE92, But put one of those on my Motorcycle and its the best all around tire I have had on a Moto. DaveJ

Anyone know who makes the Mickey Thompson Sportsman S/T Radial? If they are using a newer sticky rubber compound they might be fun?

Cooper makes the new m/t radial supposedly. I doubt they are a super sticky tire, but you'd have to find the treadwear rating number to know for sure.

I bet they would do ok since they have large tread blocks and minimal sipes.

None of the major players that I'm aware of. It says on their tire sticker, but the name slips my mind right now.

I did speak to them recently about their S/Rs. They feel they are the best modern design radial out there because it is an entirely new carcass design that is used on a variety of 17-20" sizes, and it has been down sized for 15" applications. I also asked about the lack of UTQC data on their tires. Their response was that they build performance tires and most of their customers are more interested in traction than tread life, so they don't bother. They did say most S/R users are getting around 12-15k miles out of them, so I'd say they are pretty soft. Guess I'll find out since I just bought a set and will be putting them to the pavement this coming summer.

I like the tread patern on the Mickey Thompsons...Here's a 28x12 SR radial on a 10 inch rim...They fill out the 73 Road Runner's wheelwell nicely..

Probably, if you move your springs in at least 3/4" per side and get the back spacing nuts on with your wheel.

Here is the 26x10/15 on the front of my Challenger. Pretty tight with potential interference on the fender lip during body roll. I don' t have my rears mounted up yet.

Why bother. They haven't had a major design update since 1996. There are other 295/50 tires out there that are available right now.

Anyone know who makes the Mickey Thompson Sportsman S/T Radial? If they are using a newer sticky rubber compound they might be fun?

Yeah, 12-15K miles says the are probably one of the best of the 15"s out there. I had a set of 255/60/15 on all four corners of a 77 Trans Am in the late 70's/early 80s. I only got 17K miles out of them, but they had much better traction than the BFG Radial T/A which were the most popular at the time. They were labeled "Pro Trac" as I recall.

A member here is running 295/65/15 on a 69 GTX. I think he said he needed super stock springs to do it. Check it out

Are you certain BFG made a 295 60 15 in the TA Radial? Not calling anyone anything just asking if its a typo. In the early and mid 90s I wanted TA radials soooo bad but the only sizes they offered were 275 60 15 (not wide enough) and 295 50 15 (not tall enough). 285 70 15 was too tall. I ended up going with MT sportsman 29 12.5 15s.

I run 205/70's on the front of the Barracuda on a 7" wheel. I have run 15x4 Magnum 500s on the front custom made by Stockton Wheel with 215/75's, but those were borrowed from my buddy. I really liked them on the car, but I don't want to pay that kind of $$$ for a heavy steel wheel.

Here is the same rear wheel/tire combo on the back of a '68 Satellite. 100% stock/worn out rear suspension.

Wheels are 15x8 with 4.5" backspacing.

I don't really have a decent shot of the 15x4 Magnums on the front of the car. This will give you an idea how it looked though.
