Im pulling my hair out on this one....

I got some good advice from Jim earlier but cant get him back on the phone ---SO , i thought id throw this out there for some more ideas .

98 Neon . No fuel pressure.

i installed a new pump in the old module. No pressure - so i assumed it was the regulator thats on the module.

I got a new module today and it does have a new pump already in it,

i clipped 12V to it before it went in the tank.the pump ran.

So now i have the new setup in there. No pressure at the fuel rail. The pump does run

Next i clipped on direct wires from the battery to the pump , 12V and ground. So i dont have a wiring issue.

no pressure.

i pulled the line out of the Accumulator and blew air through the whole fuel line from the rail to the acc and out of it.
blew out clean.

Next i pulled the line off the pump and ran it. It does pump fuel but not a lot---shouldnt it shoot gas at a good pressure? It kind of runs out of the line like you had a water hose running on " low to medium" .

so.... maybe this new pump is weak/ bad ?

I dont know what else it could be

can the Accumulator go bad ?

fuses are good . relay is good

the car will run for a few seconds if i shoot it with brake clean in the intake

Sounds like the pump is bad.I installed one in a GM that was new AC delco. It had less pressure than the old one that was bad had.Put another new one in and it worked. That pump should have a bunch of pressure and pour gas out. That pump should be a complete module also.Just dont get an AirTex.We installed a bunch of Bosch with no problems.Rocky

Did you put the new module in the tank and run a ground and 12 volts to it direct?See if it works like that.If the pump is good it should have fuel pressure as everything in the tank is new then.Did you check the ground going to the pump. That and use a decent 12 V test light to check voltage thru the harness to it.I had a Lebaron that showed batt volts on my volt meter but the wire was broken inside and would barely light a test light.Did you change the fuel filter?Rocky

yes-the factory wiring checks out--plus i tried hot wiring direct from the battery , hot and ground. also a ground from the pump to the frame.

the pump runs either way--its not a wiring problem.

the filter is new-its inside the module-which is all new.
i tried a different Accumulator today and also checked the whole fuel line for kinks,

no pressure

So difficult to assume what you do and do not know, but my thoughts are to check the sump in the tank and make sure there is not something ballooning up to the bottom of the pump and restricting the amount of fuel the pump can take in. If you have a deep pan that you can fill with fuel and submerge your pump into with power and ground applied see what kinda of fuel pressure you get. Also what are you using to measure fuel pressure? Do you have a gauge or are you looking at fuel flow? Have you checked power and ground on your injector harness connectors.

There is really nothing that can plug the pump as it sits in the module itself. If it has power and ground it should pump unless there isnt enough gas in the tank. Its a complete unit. The injectors would all have to be wide open and then you should still have fuel pressure maybe not full but some.If you run 12 V and a good ground from batt and it wont get pressure the pump has to be bad. That or a line kinked or plugged but you said they were clear. If a line was split fuel would be pouring out.Rocky

I dont have a pressure gauge--but i can tell you that there is NO fuel in the fuel rail. Pushing in the Shraeder valve. I even blew air thru the rail.

i did check the entire fuel line-its ok.

the tank has at least 2-3 gallons, plus the gauge says over 1/8 .

I like the idea of putting the pump in a bucket--BUT-- the lines wont reach -- and its the modern push on style end....

if you can think of a way to adapt those i will try it.

i tested 1 injector today--it IS pulsing with 12V at cranking.

im thinking it HAS TO be the new pump/module--or the tank. But the tank looks great and i didnt see anything inside--but i will check again. Im going to drop it for the 4th time and try a different pump/module . why not---im losing my mind so i need to try something

ok--- heres what i rigged up to eliminate the tank :

Guess what ??-- the car fired right up !

i looked i the tank and it did look awfully low on gas when level--but like i said it should be around 2-3 gallons in there.

So, i put the pump back in, dumped in another 2 gallons and she fired up !

So it had to be a combination of the gauge is off? or my retarded idiot self didnt have enough gas in there to cover the pump

thanks for the ideas though guys

EDIT--- test drove it. Runs great ! The speedo is off and now im wondering if the gas gauge is off too ? It said 1/8 tank this whole time---and that wasnt enough fuel ????
