I have a holley 650 carb vac. secondaries. I have a bog coming off idle and have read I need to adjust the accelerator pump arm.

I'm a little confused on what I actually need to adjust. From my understanding I need a .015 clearance between the accel. pump arm and the linkage on the carb (part with the nuts and spring) @ wide open throttle correct?

It doesn't seem to matter how much I loosen that nut at the top of the spring I can not get any feeler gauge in there. The accel pump arm is fully bottomed out at WOT.

Am I doing this wrong or what?

You may need to bend the arm slightly. Is it a 30cc pump or 50? Is it possible you have a 30cc pump and a 50cc cam? You can use 30cc cams on a 50 but not the other way around.

As for your bog, did you check the float level? Also, is more than .060" of the transfer slot showing (primary or secondary or both). This needs to be sorted out before you change shooters or cams.

Well, first off, you need to tighten that nut, not loosen it in order to get that .015 clearance. By tightening it, you will shorten it's effective length. You want to get your idle speeds, actually, all base settings, done first. Then loosen the nut so that the pump cam is just touching. You have probably(almost definitely)ruined that pump diaphragm. No big deal to do another one, though

with the throttle blade wideopened and you pressing the pump lever down.or fully compression..there should be .015 clearance...

also...if you move the throttle ...the pump should squirt...
