and what can I expect? 1st off this is going into my '68 Coronet 727 3:91 rear. Street only, maybe a 1/4 mile blast for fun. I want reliabilty and not tuning everytime I want to take it out.

440 / with all nessesary machine work/Balanced.
Ross 99539 .030 2.065 CH
New Scat Rods
Block decked to 10.700 with a .039 gasket and I hope a .040 quench. Sound right??
440 source stealth heads
Full grooved mains w HV pump
Lunati 60303 or 60304...
Was planning to use MP 1.5 stock rocker system
Holley Street Dominator intake
Holley 750 or 850 DP
1 7/8 headers 3 inch pipe with a x pipe
MP or MSD ignition...
I also need a some torque convertor advice.

Will my compr. be 10:1 or close and what kinda HP will this combo make??
I know this alot of questions but this is my 1st build and been doing alot of reading and asking questions and from what I have gathered I put this together. I did post this on the Q@A but want to look to you racers and get your take an
Will this have good street manners and run on pump gas. Don't mind a nice lope and will be running manual brakes so that will not be a issue.
Thnx for reading and look forward to hearing other opinions. If i forgot anything LMK and I will answer ASAP!!
THNX!!!!!

If that is a 6.765 rod you'll be about .005" positive deck height (above the deck!) resulting in about .034 quench and 10.45 Compression. If its a 6.760 rod it'll be at zero deck giving a .039" quench and about 10.33 Compression. Of course this assumes a flat top piston with 4cc valve reliefs too. Also all of this is assumed using published numbers. Actual numbers may change things a bit too.

I'm getting 9.96:1 with 6.76 rod and zero deck.
I think the smaller cam would be a better choice for the stock rockers. If you want to step up the rockers to a GOOD roller setup, I'd run the larger cam, but the stockers aren't going to like the added lift and RPM potential of that cam as much as a good set of roller rockers would.
All in all I think you'd be happy with this build. I wouldn't have the block decked until you see how far down the bores the pistons are so you can be assured of zero deck clearance to one or two thou out. Even the possible five out isn't really scary. I think the engine would really like it actually and with a good steel rod there wouldn't be any real problems as long as there's not excessive piston to cylinder clearance resulting in the piston rocking and tapping the head. Once things are warmed up it'll stable up and clearance won't be an issue.

The rods are 6.760. If I went with the larger cam how exotic of a rocker set up would I need. I have "0" experience messing with anything other than the standard steel stamped rocker.
Would a roller rocker need constant attention?

And one more question for now what would be the major differences in the way this motor would run between the two mentioned cams?, just RPM potential and the better rocker set-up?

Machine work is not done yet, but I will tell them to make sure I am at zero deck.
Chuck

Sounds like a solid build. The smaller cam is too small, use the larger one. The main difference between the cams will be the smaller cam will not make use of the cylinder heads and be flat above 5000. Both cams should pull hard down low. Even the larger cam is barely over 240 duration@ .050, so driveability/streetability should be fine.

There really isn't any more maintenance with a adjustable arm . Once they're set, the roller rocker is the same as the stock rocker maintenance wise.

I wouldn't go positive deck with the piston, no reason to do so.

A T/A 10" or PTC/Ultimate 9.5" would be great with this combo and perfectly streetable.

Its not far from my combo but I use 906 heads and the MP .557 solid cam. I am at 10.0 comp and I use Isky ductile iron adjustable rockers and I only adjust them once a year. And they are almost always within .001 or .002 of the adjustment. Ron
