Dave I think it would be quite a task to get a diaper on that car especially with those headers. I think a BobsProFab front end conversion and some custom headers would do the trick. Plus the car would be a little lighter and handle better. It would co$t though.

wow, nice. what did it cost?
He charges $158.00 and that includes shipping. But mine ended up costing a total of $190.00 with shipping my pan to him and the additional shipping back of the pan. Money well spend and it seems to be very good quality, excellent fit and finish. He even put a wear strip on the bottom where the steering arm comes really close to the pan to prevent it from wearing on the diaper.

I just had a custom diaper built for my Duster this year due to clearance issues and he could probably do something like this for you and sew in some heat resistant material where the header tube comes close. He was really good to work with, I sent him an oil pan with markings showing the problem areas and the diaper he sent back fits good. His web site is www.russlerii.com
Russell builds some NICE diapers....He runs in the ANRA Series out here in Bakersfield. He listens and get's it done right the first time! ...and at 158.00 it's cheap insurance.

I agree, I am very happy with mine. He is very easy to work with and he didn't even charge me any extra to make custom fit one for my pan. I just had to pay to ship the pan each way which was no big deal.

Everyone of his diapers are basically a custom fit.And he's not trying to get rich off of building these things. There is some time involved and for only 158 bucks....a true bargain in this day and age.

Not to hyjack but at what speed is one required?
Well I look at it this way...option A.with diaper...no parts of sharp destroyed motor trying to pop the balloons in the back...oil is retained and kept away from rear tires....option B..oil and parts get to rear tires...car makes violent left and hits wall head on...car destroyed...you walk away maybe... I will not EVER race another car without a diaper if the car goes over 100 mph...or if its a dedicated race car.Besides it may also catch any "drips" you may have from dropping on the track as your staging for that final round.

Dragnduster, Are you running a 400 block? Also, what type of oil pan are you running? It looks like the deep part of your pan is in the middle. I think the Milodon on my car has the deep part of the pan towards the rear. Maybe part of my solution would be to get a different pan. Let me know what you are running.
Even if he custom makes one for mine, there is little room for the diaper to fit between the pan and the headers. I guess I will have to take pictures, measurements and call Russle.
Thanks to everyone who commented.
I am using a 440 block and the pan is a Milodon #31010 pan. If I were you I would definately call Russel and tell him about your situation and I bet he could help you out. It would be a shame to have to change headers if what you have now is working. Having a diaper on your motor will give you peace of mind knowing the chances of getting oil under the tires is very slim.

These diapers that wrap around the oil pan look nice, but I thought the engine diapers had to go up the side of the block in case the rods decide to exit.

I'd agree with the above, he built me one also, I have a hole through my pan for steering link, and he velcro'd a flap to make it work, good craftmanship, reasoable price, he's built several for guys I know, was lucky that J Body told me about him.
Russ is a good guy for sure! A true racer that cares about other racers.

I'm not sure how far it should go up the side, but the one I was showing goes up to about where the pan rail makes the curve at the bottom of the cylinder. Does it need to go any higher than that?
