are there any updates from anyone on obtaining a 5.7hemi engine harness that is "afordable" ? i was approached yesterday to install one of these engine/trans combos in a 34 dodge sedan. the installation/fab work needed to physically install will be a piece of cake, but the harness ?

I am putting 1 in my '41 DeSoto Coupe. After searching all over and bugging Mopar Tech because they were coming out with a kit around 2 grand that would include harness, computer and throttle body, Chrysler never made the kit and I gave up. Then a guy got in touch with me that had a complete system off of a crate motor. This was an intake, throttle body, computer and injectors. I bought it for $1900.00.
The only other thing I found that was reasonable was a guy named Dave at Modern Muscle. They have a web site. He was knowledgable and would make any of it that I needed. I would have gone with him if the other didn't come along.

Price on OEM harnesses and computers have dropped significantly (you can get both for less than $250 through yards around here), I haven't checked lately but Street and Performance was programming OEM computers, and had instructions for modifying the harness and I thought their costs were around $500.

it seems as though street&performance and hotwire are in the same town.....anyway, the prices are very similar, and the harness pics i have of the two, they seem identicle. a street&performance kit was used on my buddys 55 chevy/LT1 setup and mark there was very helpfull with any questions we had. ron, i had read that thread on magnum harnesses before. good info.

For a hillbilly from the Ouachita Mtns in West Central Arkansas Mark knows his stuff with these harnesses and computers. I stopped by the shop one day as I was driving through the area, their outfit is cool got a nice tour of their facilities and almost got a chance to talk to mark. Mark spends his day on the phone, from what I saw he was on the phone all day long answering questions and helping people. Based on what I saw there sometimes its what you get above and beyond the cost of the item that makes something a bargain.

I've never dealt with them, but it sure sounds like service after the sale is important to them.
That is a BIG plus to me.

Sorry Ron,
All my checking came up empty on the E-bay guy. I even had e-mailed him through E-bay a couple times but can't find anything that will help. I remember his user ID was something like Import_tuner or Engine_tuner or "something"-tuner anyway. He actually advertised the harness for Hemis but said a Magnum could be done for the same price.

I need his info now too because I just picked up a '93 truck as a donor for my '78.

a friend of mine in jamestown ny. is a regular buyer of salvage vehicles, and he said complete, lo milage[under 35k] units [vehicles] are bringing between 2800-7500, depending on what they are, with 4x4 trucks bringing the most. now that is the whole vehicle, which if it were me, i think it would be wise to get the whole thing, grab what you want/need, and sell off anything left over to bring the price of the drivetrain way down.

i made my own harness from and existing stock truck harness. its not too bad to do, just time consuming more than anything. hotwire makes the harnesses for street and performance. Chris and Tony I think are the guys at Hotwire. VERY VERY VERY nice harness. Maybe pricey, but you get a very nice peice.

This is basically what the Ebay guy was doing. You sent in your factory harness and he cut out whatever wires weren't needed for what you wanted to run.

err,

modding the wiring harness isn't the hard part, I can do that easy enough.

Now, the computer being happy with what's missing is another story though.

They say there are no such thing as a stupid question.
They say there is always the exception that proves the rule.
Don't be the exception.

Not much I hope. The local yard here has a complete engine/trans/harness/comp etc. from a Ram SRT10 for $8500.

No luck with the E-bay guy contact info, sorry.
