How are you getting these in? stock axle location? pushing out quarters? all of the above?
I have my axle spaced back a 1/2" for shackle angle, it looks like I need to trim the wheel wells. Thanks Dennis

what width wheel are you trying to run? i have ran 30x9 on my car, running 29x9 now,i needed to trim the inner lip to make room..goin forward or back a 1/2 inch with your wheel base isn't gonna make it rub more..imo...i tried an 8 inch wheel and it was a no go without ALOT of trimming..it looked to me like i would have to trim the inner lip flush with the quarter panel to make a 8 inch wheel work...so being reluctant to do that much trimming(or spend BIG $ and buy wheels with a diff back space) i ended up with a 7 inch wheel..still a tight fit and a pain to get on and off the car, but they dont rub.. ..

RacerAl,

I'm comitted with what I purchased 8" wheel with 4.5" back spacing and Phoenix 30 x 9. My car sits a little low in back so the lips aren'too much of a problem. The front and back of the opening are going to be a handful . I may have to sell all and start over.

What kind of wheel are you trying to use? I might be interested in buying the wheel/tire combo if you go with something else.

(We use that size wheel and tire for our NSS '64 Savoy.)

Blues Cuda,

The wheels look like cop wheels from Wheel Vintique, everything is new, also screwed into rims.

With an 8" wide wheel you're going to need about 5 1/8 maybe 5 1/4 backspace without doing a bunch the the wheel wells.

I tried a 15x8 wheel at McCormacks and it was 5 1/2 BS which was to much, we added spacers and came up with the 5 1/8 number (I was going to order a custom wheel)

...your really that close to the front of the wheel opening.?...i don't recall that evening being an issue with mine..
...as sledge57 stated you can make a 8 inch wheel fit but you'll have to trim the inner lip flush with the quarter panel..there is a member here running a 67 b-body that runs NSS with a 30x9 slick and he is running a 8 inch wheel.(east coast guy i think).

Al,

Over the winter I will have to recheck it, seems like I had a 1/2" clearance on both sides of the wheel well. When I asked about clearance most thought I should have 1". My quarters have been pushed out a little already, I may have to do some more. Thanks

Doug,

You are probably close, My MT Sreets 28 x 11.5 x 15 are on Centerlines, I beleive 8.5" wide with 8.75" backspacing and I have no problems. Thanks

I assume you mean 8.5 wide with 5.75 BS which would be right according to what we figured out.

What's your plan for the Centerlines?

Centerlines are staying on the car, the slicks are mounted on cop wheels for the track only.
