It's a shame....but that is life in the twenty first century.

I can't blame Morgan, but professional sports (including drag racing) has become a sham, populated by yuppies and those to whom the end justifies the means. He's just playing the game the way life is played these days. It's not about the sport...it's all about the money. Everything is for sale...your future, your integrity, even your country. Just write me a check.

I am grateful that I grew up in a sport, and even in a country when loyalty and integrity were more important than the bucks.

I guess I'm a dinosaur. I still think that way.

Why didn't Jones just change motors and shut his mouth. If that was what the contract said, just do it.

Jones didn't say a thing. ESPN picked up on what was going on and reported it.

Jones knows the way the game is played.

So do I, I understand. I just don't like it.

to the OP, stay in your own sections if you can't respect proper race results etiquette in the race section. It sucked watching it after 1st round knowing everything but the final results based on the thread title.

To the Larry haters, Larry loaned the Jones' an engine for qualifying only and then since he is a nice guy let them continue to use it with the agreement that they had to return it if they met in the final (longshot for both). Rickie could have returned it after qualifying if they didn't like the terms. As far as not mentioning Dodge after, so what. He has probably done more for Dodge in pro stock then they have done for him. If you ever spend time talking to him face to face you will see he is one of the good guys.

They both said the agreement was if they met in the finals,Jones had to pull the engine. What's the big deal with that?? I was more dismayed at the obvious redlight by Humphreys and Anderson's bogus comments on it.

I'm with TS3303 on this one!
Always have liked Larry. Seen him almost miss a qualifying run in Phoenix years ago because he was personally changing an ignition box in a competitor's car who was having issues. The man is a racer's racer, period! I can hear him now saying, "unless we meet in the final!", and everybody laughing!!!
Just wondering, if.. in two weeks when he goes to pick up his new RJ race cars Ford..If there might be a few last minute "issues"!! HEHEHE!!

I like and respect the Bogners..But I REALLY would liked to have seen Chuck put that Big, Green, Sixpack Roadrunner in the Superstock winner's circle!!

Congrats to all!!

BTW, I will be accepting donations for the "Billy Wants One Of Them Leftover Pro-Stock Stratus'" Fund! I'm not even picky, I'll take Johnny's, Ricky's, Larry's, Vinnie's, C'mon, there has to be plenty to go around!!

From a post on class racer.com....Larry loaned the engine to Jones, who also offered to buy it,Larry told him in jest,"don't beat me if we both go to the final"...

Jones took the engine out without Larry asking him to do so,Larry told him he could leave it in,but Jones pulled it and gave it back to Morgan anyway. Post is under live from Las Vegas.

The way I understood it was that Morgan leased the engine to the Jones's for qualifying only. After qualifying the Jones's paid the lease, and Morgan was nice enough to offer the engine for them to continue to use for free during eliminations unless they met in the finals. In which case the Jones's had to give it up. This was a very good day for both racers & Mopar. Nothing wrong was done here.

Anyone who thinks team orders is a new thing never followed Mopar factory racing in the '60 and '70's.

Not a big Morgan fan, but he did do a great job driving today. Hit the tree hard when he had to, and had the muscle when he needed it.

I've always liked Larry and I'm happy to see him finally win one before he switches to ferd. I was a little disappointed he never mentioned Mopar and went right into his ferd spiel but I suppose they're paying the bills now. I want to wish him the best but also hope he's always a bumper behind any Mopar he races. Dave

I agree with Steve on the loyalty thing, there is none anymore its all about the $$$. Morgans only loyalty is to money hes raced everything GM. Mopar and now Ford whoever gave him the most money. All these Mopar racers are jumping to GM , I thought GM racing money dried up? Hes getting his money from Ford now but to not mention who put bread on his table the last couple of years was wrong and shows a lot about his character. On the other hand its great to see two Mopars in two Finals, Congrats to the S/S Winner and R/U that Green RR is just Cool!

Only if he gets sponsor money.Edwards said he's not sure if he will be racing next year, but he did say he will be leasing engines.

When you win championships i don't think it'll be hard to get sponsership, maybe Summit will take on another car what total domination that would be

Mopar isn't one of Larry's sponsor's now, so I don't see why he'd need to mention them at all.

Another car to lay down for Greg?

You sure seem to like teams that have to bend or break the rules in order to win.

Maybe you should get in touch with the NHRA and tell them exactely how teams are cheating ,once again if you can't beat them they must be cheating, such a poor excuse for getting your [Edited by Moparts - Family Friendly Site - Keep it clean] whipped every year..

The obvious dive by Humphreys is against the rules. Stevie Wonder could see that.
