If you are serious about performance, avoid the Mr.Gasket short adaptor.I tried one a couple years ago,and the transition is horrible, and the bent studs are about impossible to use.
I'm not trying to bust anyone's chops, just real world experience.
I ended up buying a Wilson's Manifolds 1" one that is real nice, but pretty expensive.

I've got a 1.25" one from Promax carbs that seems ok.

I will have to go look at it and get a part #.
Maybe I am wrong on the height,I remember it being the shortest one I could find at the time, other than the Mr. Gasket deal.

Sorry about that, mine is part# 027030,and it is 1.5 inches.I bought it to replace a Moroso that was supposed to be 2 inches but was really 2 1/8".
If Promax has a shorter one,it is probably a better deal.If I remember correctly, the Wilson was over $100.00.

At 1.25" the promax is the shortest I know of that doesn't look like a complete turd. Seems to me that it was around $85.00 but that may have changed since I last looked at the price list.

whats the Promax unit made from? it looks like a type of plastic. if so can it also act as a carb insulator? don't spose you have a pic of the wilson unit?

The Wilson is billet aluminum, the inside is tapered like the Moroso cast one.
The outside of it is profile milled.
I can take a picture of it later if you want one.

This would be my recommendation, it looks like you would have the hood clearance. I have experimented with the "super sucker" style expensive adapters and the Moroso open is equal or better at the track for me on an Indy manifold. What manifold are you running ?

i've got the indy 400 manifold & hood clearence is tight. but i could go with a shorter air cleaner if push came to shove.

I never ran an air cleaner on a race car but I can understand why one would want to.
