I have a set of J.E pistons that were made for indy small block head 360 rectangular port heads.

My qestion is can these pistons be re profiled for a W-9 50cc heads.

Specs. for my current pistons are
4.060 bore
.300 dome
1.200 comp ht.
.043,.043,3mm rings
.927 pin
2.75 pin length.

I want to go with a w-9 head but dont want to buy pistons unless I have to.

It will need mocked up in a block W/ a 9 head, one of biggest things is to watch for plug interference into the dome, W9's notorious for that.

Also obviously that piston is 18 degree & a W9 is 15 or less... also W9 going to generally have bigger diameter valves & slightly different valve spacing than an ICH head, those are your 3 areas of concern. The dome should fit a 9 chamber other than the aforementioned plug angle issue.

Usually it is not a big deal to make a 18 degree piston work with a 8/9 head. Just have to play with reliefs. Keep in mind if they had made that piston for a W9 app, it probably would have started with same forging....
