The race of all races and I missed it. The hell with Indy, you all think that final was exciting? How about the final at Columbus? Mr. four speed vs the kid ...Sr got him by 2 feet at the end...Way to go Charlie Sr!! do ya think he thanked his engine builder? Congrats to you too Jr, BOTH of you, well deserved. Its a coin toss who was probably more excited Sr or Jr with the win, except Sr has the check this time.

from the looks of it,,,, if the air is typical maple groove charlie should beable to run low 8.30's or so,, i think his car is only certified to run 8.50. it will be interesting to see if they actually enforce that rule for chassis cert against charlie... though i wouldnt think they will since they dont really enforce any of the other rules that people point out.

well bucky im content right now trying to pick up .02 or so every run,, making small changes and quantifing the result. i think i made progress at columbus though the car started to slow down but i have 4 pushrod tubes leaking to the point that the port wont hold a vacuum. i picked up in incrementals most every run and learned a few things about tuning the chassis to get down the track.

see you at the dutch bucky,, i think...

why is it that it is always the slowest race car at the track, is an athority on the rules? What rules are you referring to? Since I have been torn down 4 times this year alone, (more than anyone else has in the last 10 years), and I recieved a letter telling me that I needed to move my batteries, and a letter stating that the lifter angle deal was a non issue, what else do you have to complain about. I dont really know what quantify means, but if it is synonomous with being 4 tenths behind, than I understand.

glad to see the lifter deal is legal,, it wasnt a big deal to me,, one other guy had a problem with it since nhra told him to stop doing it a few years back. i didnt mean anything to take away from your accomplishments charlie,, your car is fast, as it would be with whatever lifter angle you had in it because of your dedication to working on it. ill probably modify my inner fenders so i can fit a taller tire since i have a problem red lighting when i leave higher than 3200rpm,, though its not legal to do,, but i think its legal if you just slightly do it,,

youve been doing this for 8 years charlie,, and this year youve gained the most of any from year to year,, congrats.. ive come to the conclusion that in my first year im not going to turn a few screws or get a magic cam that will pick me up two tents or so,, its a combination and many little things that go into it,, its not going to happen overnight,, so im content just trying to go faster every run...

Usually because the slowest car in the class is trying to stay well within the boundries of the rules and the fastest car in the class is usually playing with a gray area or testing the boundries of the rules.

Thank you so much Brian for posting the videos on U Tube. For some of us who rarely get to see these cars race it is a big treat.

Amazing machines. In my circle of friends no one would believe that an old 68 Plymouth could accelerate to 157 MPH in a quarter mile.

Not sure how it got off track so much....but how fast et/mph is a SS/AH car certified to? Obviously alot of the other rules seem not to apply to them (refering to watching a SS/AH driver at MaTS simply slipping on his sweat pants over his shorts before a run...no thick jacket/pants/gloves/ etc. required of a usual 9.99 or faster car).

Brian, Thank You for the Video. I have been waiting for this match for a while. My guess, it's going to be a frequent pairing. It sure is great to see Sr doing that...it never gets old. Next year are we going to see Jr in a 4 speed car?? He has posted here he is building another. Racing like that IS how they did it in the 60's...All of you here keep up the good work. I dont have a drag car, but have always enjoyed the sport.
