I have a 69 Chrysler 300 with a 440, pretty stock. I took the radiator out to do some other work on the engine and it looks pretty bad. I'm going to take it to the radiator shop to get it checked out, but assuming it's shot, and I don't care about keeping the car perfectly original, does it make sense to buy one of those aluminum replacements they sell on eBay for around $250 instead of having mine recored? Has anyone tried one of these? I don't even know what a recore costs - anybody have that done recently who can tell me what it costs?

I think you would be money ahead just having your stock radiator recored. You know it fits and the inlet and outlet fittings are correct.

Recore will cost you at least $100 more than the aluminum one for $250. If you are not concerned with orginiality, I'd go with the aluminum rad.

I just recored a 22-inch radiator for my 71 Superbee, 383 non-ac car.
I went 3-core.
Cost = $490.
Yep, $490. Maryville, Tennessee.
I drove 1100 mile to Monster Mopar weekend in St. Louis and it ran super cool.
I use distilled water in my recored radiators to reduce mineral build up and I plan from here on out to do a flush once a year.
We'll see if this makes 'em last forever!
I wanted to look original so that's why I didn't go aluminum - the $$$ out hurt - but I'm happy after the cool, flawless trip to St. Lou!
