sounds like it,,,,,,,but I've owned the truck around 4 years now and I never had distributor out,,,,,and this truck was running solid the whole time,,,,even 2 weeks ago trying to start it,,,,it turned over once and ran,,,shut it down and it never restarted,,,,,could it have been running 180 out????hmmmmmmmmmm,,,I think we did try to time it with a light and couldnt get it dialed in,,,,so,,,,now I've got the camshaft gear mark at the bottom,,,then i pulled it and turned the crank one turn to #1 tdc,,,then i pulled the dist. up and turned it 180 to #1,,,,now everything is lining up,,,,now if my bro-in-law ever shows up with a gear puller,,,I can put it back together
did I actually do anything here,,,,or did i just spin the distributor 180 been buggin me all week,,,back down to timing chain,,,,gonna pull valve covers today and see if everything is movin up top,,,,,man this sucks,,,,,this wasnt in the plan

Hello, I'm new to this board and this site. I hope I'm posting correctly. I have a '78 adv se SWB 4x4 with a 440. I've read that there were not many of these made so i guess my question is...is it worth it to restore it or should I build it? Right now all the modifications are to the suspension..and i'm not sure it has the correct seat but other than that it's pretty much stock..any help or suggestions would be great!

well, it would be safe to say that not many adv se 4x4 440 trucks were made, there are a bunch more of those floating arround than the 2wd's for sure. so, do you have pics of it, what options does it have, what color combo is it????? Let us know. You might even PM machoman, he has a truck registry going where he is collecting info on 1972-1980 dodge trucks.

Thanks for the reply! I don't have a pic right now...I think the truck is fairly loaded it has a/c, cruise, ps, pb, tilt, cargo light, dual tanks, full carpet, woodgrain dash(I'm not sure if that was an option) and an automatic(not sure if that was an option either). The original color is two-tone blue/silver although right now it's mostly primer, the poor thing needs some work. also it has remote spotlights but I don't think those are stock...I am having a bit of a hard time finding info on what did or didn't come on these trucks.

that sounds like it was a cool truck. the spot lights are definately not stock. where are you located at? Would like to see some pics when you get a chance.

yes they did. if the 15-10LT tire was ordered you received a 15x8in steel wheel. this wheel was available from 74-76. in 77 the chrome 5 slot became available, and i'm not sure when the wagon wheel first came out. i'm sure it was 77 also only cuz i have never seen a factory 76 w/these. the chrome 5 slot was optional on 2wd's in 76 here is a pic of the complete set of 5 i picked up.

The first one, the MACHO PW is a factory 440 truck. The second one could be, and probably is, the auction appears to have the "B" and "D" switched arround. Quote:
Is this an orginal 440 by it's VIN 440 PW and another 78 440

Hey dynotune440 I like the original 440 Trailduster your bidding on. Original orange with the soft top and hard top. Look like a good deal with no reserve. I wish i lived closer, because i would bid on it. I love that truck it's a real nice unit, It will go good with your collection. Any way Good luck on the bidding.
