Yeah, you forgot to mention that to get an equal to the Pro-flite you need a $7000 Rossler. I really don't understand why the push to convert everyone that mentions a 727 to gm transmissions.

Not True or even close.like apples to oranges. at 5500.00 plus a proflite is usually chosen for it's many gear ratio , less reciprocating weightcan only handle 1300 hp aso known for a short lifespan.
the 5500.00 Rossler is built to handle 2000 + pro mod hopsepower

a basic stock with good clutces and bands 400 can handle about 700 Hp amd coss arond 1200.00. step up to some better drums good to 1100 hp

Fred,

To get a 210exd with all of the trick, lightweight goodies equal to a PF it approaches $7000. Yes, in a 2000 hp pro-mod I agree that the Rossler is the only choice. That being said, I'm pretty sure he doesn't have a pro-mod nor was one mentioned. He says he has a 650hp hemi that he'll occasionally squirt. Also, that price you quote from Rossler is without an Ultra-Bell, the crank adapter and the chevy flywheel. Then get a new driveshaft, slip yoke and fab a trans mount. Lets not get it twisted.

The powerplant is a 426 Hemi, should be good for 650Hp, plan is to add a 2-300hp shoot of Nitrous later on.

Steel front planet, steel or aluminum front clutch retainer, roller planets and output support, 4340 pump gears, preferable year front pump hsg and reaction shaft support and low band apply valve body. Zyglo the input and output shafts. Wala, you're good to go.

edit: I didn't notice he was going to giggle gas.

Good question to ask, and only you can decide.

I love my 727. Since I do my own work it is very cheap and holds up to the power well. To be fair, a PG would likely be a better bracket race setup in my car (3200 lbs), but my consistancy is as good as anyone in my class.

I say to stay with the 727 and put a better valve body in it. Either the Tranzact or Griner. I expect you already have a billet front drum for safety. If you have a transbrake, then put a steel spline front planetary in the trans. I run footbrake and a stock 4 pinion aluminum body planetary.

How much power are you making Jim, and how many passes until you have to freshen it up?

Here is what a GM guy thinks the optional TH400 upgrades are. It ends up as an aftermarket trans, like a 727 at that level. I don't get it.

the two can't be compared.

I hear ya Fred. I agree that with 2000hp stuff the 400 is more durable, but not in his case IMO. The point I was trying to make was that a $7000 PF has every trick part known to man in it To get the same lightweight, trick geared 400 it costs the same money, and the PF is still faster. That 400 will handle a lot more hp, especially above 1000hp, but that wasn't the discussion that was being had. Peace

I definately dont need a Rossler trans or a Proflite.. I just want something that will do the job and NOT cause problems...

I guess Ill keep the 727 trans, maby go for the CRT one or build something similar into the 727 transmission case I have.

but it to will also handle way more HP than a fully modified 727 that peaks out at 1500 tops

Possibly so, but if the original poster needs a trans, what will the website I linked suggest? Nothing? I think not.

CRT Super pro II with transbrake 3640$ + shiping

ATI Pro Glide + Adaptor case 3720$ + new converter + new driveshaft + shiping

any questions???

Yes, arent these way too much money and transmission for what he's doing? Especially since he's driving it on the highway to the racetrack?
