I'm looking at a Scat 408 stroker kit, cast crank, flat top pistons, I beam rods, 7/16" cap screws. Are these kit's any good? I was told the bobweight is 1734-1750 is that fairly light or what? Thanks.
Sounds like the kit Summit has at $974. The Scat crank is cast iron, so I wouldn't put a ton of HP to it. Maybe 500 or so?
Were useing that kit in a buddies 87 Dodge 4X4. With new RHS 360 X heads, RPM intake, 750 carb, and mild .500 lift cam. Should make an easy 400+ HP.
Snap your neck, mega G-force launch, is all I want!

That 0.528 cam doesn't have much overlap (60deg@ advert. IIRC) Get the dished piston, it works out to around 9.5cr. with an iron head and 10.5 with an al. head.
Randy
Ok heres the dished info from the site
Description SB CHRYSLER 360/408 Crankshaft 9-360-4000-6123-2123 Rods 2-ICR6123-2124 Pistons DISH Comp. Ratio 58cc-10.2 64cc-9.7, 70cc-9.3 Eddy heads are 63cc chambers so that will put me close to 10 comp, I'd like to end up as much as i can with the aluminum heads without any detonation problems on pump gas even if i have to get a new cam as long as it's a solid. I'm open to suggestions this is only my 2nd motor build for this rookie.

KB 745 specs @ 9.3cr. with a 72cc head and 10.2cr with a 62cc head. The last 2 Scat kits I received both used the KB piston. With a light deck cut (under 0.010") once the block is squared you will be right around 10.5 cc with an eddy head and @ 0.044" quench. Randy

I run the Scat Kit 408 in my bracket car.Forged crank,KB744 pistons,forged I beam rods,590 MP cam,Super Victor Intake,750hp carb,TTI headers,Eddy heads 63cc,with a 904 trans,TCS 8",low gear,4.30 gear/30X9 Hoosier @ 3420 w/driver. Best has been 1.47 60' 10.97 @ 120. The kit is a very nice piece and with the I beam rods there's no need for notching for clearance.
