You said stock converter so it must be an automatic. You won't go wrong with a Comp 268 XE. The MP 272 cam would also be a good choice. Or call Jim Dowell at Racer Brown for a custom shaft. Hughes Engines has a nice line of cams, but they tend to be high lift relative to duration so checking clearances becomes even more important than usual.

I love my Hughes Whiplash cam. Sounds really mean, holds plenty of vaccum, and tons of low end/mid range. Good enough to put my 8.5:1 340 with no converter into the 13.20s...thats with a traction problem too. I have a few vids of it on youtube.

Run some type of dual plane performance intake, RPM, LD340, Air Gap, instead of the torker II.

I'd run a cast iron 340 intake with a 1-2" 4 hole spacer before putting Torker on it.

The X268H or something similar is a good choice for a street car.

I run a Perf RPM and don't think I would want another intake for it. Really woke up my car. Works perfect with my cam.

The torker II will work fine use a 4 hole spacer under the carb. i run 12.20 with a 360, flat tops, j heads, 3.91 gear.
Hughes or a vodoo, cam in the 226 to 234 @.050 would work best
