Better check that pinion angle before you load the car up !
it's done, really can't go wrong there the motor/tranny is pretty much in line with the rear. so either method would work on this one

well we just got back, the car did go down the track but we did have a few problems only made 2 passes. 1st pass had a hesitation but would not shif out of first so I aborted and just crusied through at 4k rpm. it felt strong after it picked back up after the hesitation but that didn't last long. checked the wiring to the Eshift and didn't see anything wrong. so I put it in manual mode so I could shift it manually. changed the squirters to see if I could get the hesitation out. 2nd pass it still had a hesitaton but pulled good in 2nd gear. shifted into 3rd and nothing so I just coasted through and loaded it up. car drove good with no wondering and went straight. I guess that was good so I'll search and see what the problem is. Woody seems to think it's in the valve body. had fun seen goldmember and a few old friends. all is good Ill figure it out later...

Why did you go with the E shift V body
because it's a bracket racer. supposed to be one less thing to worry about I'll get it straight. a lot of the class racers are using them and loving it. the car really felt good and pulled hard once it got past the hesitation.

Might be to much lash in your ring/ pinion in the rear........
could be, I didn't set it up. this car (body and chassis)was built over 25 years ago. the rear set all that time with no grease in it. the ring and pinion looked fine but there was rust on the bearings.

I was kidding. Hey, lets review what Dave predicted....
Quote:
I predict the best run that first test n tune day will be 7.50 @ 91 mph with a best RT of .075. Keep in mind, a brand new car is not going to run its best time right off the trailer. Plus, the weight of all those heavy, welded hood pins are going to slow it down.
Quote:
I'm factoring in new car bugs. Everyone dreams of everything working perfectly the first time out with a brand new car, but it seems that more often that not, that rarely happens. I'm just going with the odds. If you kill my prediction, I'll be among the first to congratulate ya.
Still, you had to have been proud to at least bring it to the track and drive it. I'm sure you'll get those issues squared away, and lay down some good numbers next time.
well the 2 areas I was unsure of bit me I have taken new combo's to the track and actually won a race with one. but like you said the odds are against it.

well those statements tell me you are a true testntune guru you can't tell squat about the carb issue with out putting it under load. it felt fine in the drive way with the tires spinning. the burnout even felt fine the first pass. I don't even know what it ran I didn't even get the time slip the second pass but I think my son said it ran a low 8 with just the second gear blast at near 90mph. first pass it never came out of 1st gear I think that was 9 something. maybe Woody remembers.

didnt think your car could turn the tire on the street or a dirt road for that matter
yea I here you, when you actually learn to drive that car of yours and actually learn to compete and win a race come back and talk to me.
