Looks like all it did was piss off the Edwards camp, the rest of the cars were ~1/2 tenth slower or more than they were on the last shot, so much for leveling the playing field. LOL

without impounding all ten cars at once all this would do is give the other five cars time to scrutenize their own stuff before it gets tickled over,if you get my drift.

I think NHRA should at least go on record why they are making this decision, and be open to other alternatives to achieve the same objective, such as mentioned, close circuit TV, or taping for later release, or have area roped off and viewed from a distance, etc.

Seems like a lot of safety liability this way.

But NASCAR does this all the time, but after a race, not during, right?

Reality check, that half the population is smarter then 50% of the people and it's a constantly contested fact.

Topside that was funny. That inspection process don't seem right though. I'd fear for my life if any of the precision of those complex pro/stock cars were compromised. How do you have any faith in some individual who you dont have any idea what they really know about someting as advanced as pro stock.

A little solidarity between the pro stocker's would stop that in it's tracks. If they all said no, NHRA would have no show to sell, and would maybe realize the sport belongs to the competitors, and fans, and that they're merely a facilitator.

Because you have no choice. Sure, you can refuse, then you are simply disqualified. It may not be right, but you don't have much of a choice if you want to race.

After his tirade at the US Nats WJ probably dropped a dime on someone.

way way off, you dont think there will be 20 other people filling in the spots for the ones that get booted for not letting NHRA do what they want? so they wont be running 6.50's, but there would still be a 16 car field of "whos that?" racing.

people that dont ever qualify but try race after race will show up knowing they can get in and race now, and they'll show up. You guys are nuts to think that a united front will change anything.

Not sure about this season, but Jerry has worked on a few teams in recent years.

The majority of the fans aren't there to see Pro Stock anyway.

P/S cars run on cubic dollars, and that money comes from someone else' pockets. How long do you think a sponsor will allow a car to be parked over something like this? These guys have no where else to race that will get them any exposure.

Professional racers have tried many times to band together, and I think the fuel guys do have a "union" now. It's pretty much toothless though.

I was joking about WJ dropping a dime, but in all seriousness, if I had reasonable suspicion that someone was cheating and had kept me out of a field I'd drop a dime in a heartbeat. It would be stupid not to. As has been said before, at 9 minutes a car they are looking for something very specific, and the only way to keep teams from telling each other what it is had to be sealed inspection.

maybe a small small amount of people would feel like that are contribbuting by not going to watch,

but the reality is that there are tons of people just sitting on the side lines that would fill the empty void of who ever it is that wouldnt be racing.
If someone is not going to go watch as a sign of solidarity to the teams, well there will still be people in the stands, becuase the sad fact that a lot of people cant seem to understand is, that the majority of people go to watch Nitro, not super stock, not comp, not even pro stock, but the loud, fire spitting blow em up fighting at top end nitro cars. and if you feel the need to say, well not me, then remember I said the MAJORITY of people...
the sport will survive, new teams will come and go and after time, no one will even remember that so and so was upset at a sealed inspection. The will struggle to remember so and so's name and if he was relivant to anything.

sad but true, if the current teams revolt against NHRA, there are lots of teams up and coming, and lots of comp racers that will gladly step up to get on tv on sunday.

most people in the stands don't know squat about racing or whats going on with racers and the nhra. they go to see the nitro cars.

As was already said, it wasn't a teardown or even much of an inspection if it only took 45 minutes to look over 5 cars. How closely can you scrutinize an entire Pro Stock car and all of the systems in just 7 minutes each? The were obviously looking at or for one single specific thing.
