I am looking at going with an ignition box, mostly for the rev limiter but I dont think the multi spark will hurt either and the price increase vs a stand alone limiter isnt that much. I am going to use my mopar distributor and I plan to leave my chrome box on the firewall and hide the new box .I am comparing the msd 6al to the mallory 6al. I like the rotory dial rev limiter feature of the mallory. The msd seems to be more popular. pros/cons and opinions please.
thanks
josh

Both work well, just the msd is more popular because they were the original and have been on the market for so much longer. The 6al is a dated piece which is where there are so many other makers copying it. I also like the idea of the rotary dial on the mallory versus the plug-in chips of the msd.

doing a bit more research the mallory is digital vs the analog of the msd. it looks like there may be a tach issue or an adapter needed with the mallory?

Factory Tach won't work on the Mallory (or MSD), but most modern aftermarket tachs will.

I used a Mallory Hyfire VI AL on my Charger and was very pleased with it. Easy to adjust the RPM limit (no chips or plugs to buy).

Summit Racing has a budget-priced knock-off of the Mallory. I'm eying one for my Cuda project.

I've used them both and I would go with the Mallory. I moved up to the MSD 6al-2, it's digital and I can't see paying the extra money for the MSD. I got a good deal on mine and I wanted to give it a try...buy the Mallory and your tach will work fine. Check out the Mallory HyFire 6, it doesn't cost much more and you get a TON more features, like start retard and 2 step rev limiter. Jegs has them for $259

I called both MSD and Mallory today and talked to the tech support dept. that sealed the deal right there. The MSD tech was a jackass ( can I say that) oh well he was and thats being nice. The guy from Mallory handled all of my dumb questions with ease and was great to talk to.
