I have had some issues with the front end on of this car for several years. I had a wheel bearing go bad about 4 years ago and now I have to replace the after marketing bearing almost annually. It seems to have a rough shaking in the front end almost like a tire is loose. I replaced the wheel bearing and still have some issues in the front. I know the tires are bad I am replacing them in a few weeks. I have heard issues about bushing with the front of this car. I am getting ready to pick this kit up to replace the bushing on the inner tie rods and wanted to get some advice. http://shop.oreillyauto.com/productdetai...=70&PTSet=AAny ideas if this will help with the problem? How difficult is it to replace these bushing? Craig

The inners were a problem on them.Just get the Moogs as they are easy to replace and last.If you are replcaing whl bearing every year they must be the chep ones.We wouldnt use them at work. The Timkens last even though they are more.National is also good.Rocky

just curious, can you even replace the inner bushings without the special tool
Yes, as the 'new' pieces are split bushings, versus the OE one-piece bushings.
I replaced the inner tie rod bushings and the steering rack bushings on my '94 Intrepid ES shortly after buying it. On the first gens, the bushings are a PITA to access, but not all that difficult to change. ONLY DISCONNECT ONE TIE ROD END A TIME! If you disconnect both ends at the same time, the steering rack can move and you don't want to deal with that.
The bolt head is an odd size, too, something like 24mm IIRC. The info should be in the FAQ over at: http://www.dodgeintrepid.net/forums/t41994/
This is for Gen 1's, but I think Gen 2's are similar.

First set I installed were the factory one piece.Wgat a pain. The las sets i did was the Moog one piece.I couldnt believ how easy they were.I think I used like a 7/8 or 15/16 six point on them.Worst part is unbending the lock tabs to get the bolts out.New ones I just lock tite in and on my 96 they have been in 4 years and still tight.Rocky
