I JUST, and I mean just came from picking up my Calvert 90/10 shocks. I compared them to my CE 3 way adjustables, and all I know is that the Calverts sure do extend alot easier than the CEs. Obviously that's the only opinion I can give right now . codfish

I have had Koni SPA 1s on my Dart for years I also have the monoleaf/CalTrac setup. I purchased a pair of the Calvert 90/10s last year and put them on. I haven`t pin pointed the problem but I believe the front was rising to fast as I was spinning the tires a lot more than normal. I put the Konis back on and the problem went away. I have heard the Calverts work good but they just didn`t on my application.

Hal Lees explained the problem with stock body type shock absorbers. It's been 3.5 years since I talked to him, but I believe I remember him telling me he had a major hand in designing the C/E's. They (stock body type) aren't structurally strong enough to withstand the brutal slamming of a returning wheelstanding vehicle. Think about it: A 2900-3800 lb car smashing back to ground with 1400 to 2000 lbs on the front ent. Something has to give. They survive, by allowing the valving to partially bypass on compression. That having been said, you can't have it both ways, so, either the shock has to bypass, or, if you use a non bypassing valving shock like: Strange, QA1 or Afco, the attachment points better be strong enough to withstand the loading. Just watch the typical 3 way or Race Country (I have used both), allow the tires to bounce off the track multiple times. As for the spA1s: (I have used them as well) if your car wheelstands at all, be prepared to scrap the rubber and asphalt off the oil pan. They are stricktly for a calm leaving car. That's my experience.
