What size are the throttle blade screws? I am working on an old 750 and the screws that were in it are shot and hang out the otherside which I believe to be a no no. I was going to put cap screws in there place. This ok? Jeff

i can't remember if they are 8-32 or 10-32 but i would use button head screws and then loctite them into place.

They are originally countersunk & made of brass, designed to slightly protrude through the shaft & lightly peened on the backside to prevent them backing out... If you want to remove them don't just force them to back out, chances are they will strip if you do.. typically you back them out a little them back in back & forth to slowly reform the threads that were peened... Also be sure to properly seat the throttle blades or you'll have idle issues..

They should be ground or cut off with a dremel and then carefully backed out

Thanks for the reply's guys. I didn't take the shaft out of the baseplate, it was already out, I am just putting everything back together. So would it be better to just buy another throttle shaft? Or can this one still be used with button head screws and some loctite?? Thanks, Jeff

use the shaft and get some button heads. i would run a tap through the holes since the shaft is already out.

I would call either Holley or Sumitt. I bought a set of the butterflies about 6 yrs ago for another set of carbs and it came with those screws.
