Alexdodge OP enthusiast Joined: Dec 2005 Posts: 261 Eastern ohio	Is it possible to bore a 426 to a 440+30 over bore? I have a 426 block and a set of slightly used +30 440 pistons on the shelf. If possible I would like to use these pistons Thanks, Alex

Reggie top fuel R Joined: Jan 2003 Posts: 2,111 Bowie, MD	I wouldn't try it. That would be a .100" overbore. Probably not enough meat on the cylinder walls and a grenade waiting to happen. There is also the risk of overheating problems due to the thin walls.

ScottSmith_Harms Mr Wizzard Joined: Jan 2003 Posts: 42,714 Spokane Washington	The only way to know for sure is to have it sonic checked for bore thickness. If you can end up with .150 or more of wall thickness on all 8 thrust sides you should be fine. Some of the old 413/426 blocks will take it.
