What is the usual installed height for valve springs on stock BB castings with stock length valves?

I ask because I have a set of roller springs that installed a 1.900 will coil bind at max lift, but if installed at 1.950 will be OK.

Im in the mock up stage so I havent tried them at 1.950, but wondering about retainer to rocker clearance at 1.950

Anyone?

Thanks

Typically stock installed height is in the 1.86-1.88 range. To get 1.95 you may have to cut the spring pockets deeper, or use different locks and/or retainers to gain more height.

I don't recommend cutting into the head. Use dished retainers.

and then make sure you don't have interference between the rocker and the retainer. also pray that the 40 year old heads haven't had the valves tipped so much that the +.050 locks and retainers aren't going to sit above the stem.

And that the lash caps (might need them to get that rocker-retainer clearance) don't bottom out on the locks.
