My engine builder lent me his 416 powered '65 Dart. Its got a race prepped 904, TA convertor, and 4.56's with 11x29 slicks. Never drove the car before. Its nice to be back in the seat again. First two passes were throw aways due to the wiring on the line lock failed, and was not repairable. Made the rest without it. I used the front tire pressure to dial RT, and should have let another pound out for 2nd round. Sun glasses to no sunglasses makes a difference.
Only made it to the 2nd where I bulbed with a .488, but 1st round was awesome. Cut a .509 light to his .548 and broke out with a 7.40 on a 7.43 dial, but he broke out worse trying to catch me. Went into the 2nd round by just a couple of .001's....The owner of the car was with me and asked why I don't use the brakes, and I told him, I learn to trust the car, and dial it for what it will run and I run it. I usually dial 0.01 faster than the best pass if it was a reliable one, and then account for weather changes by keeping a log. But I had no log, and no humidity gauge, so its best guess.
