My car has had aftermarket quarter skins put on it from the body line down. They look a little odd at the back where the quarter meets the tailpanel below the taillights, and down where the valance attaches. I could use a pic or two of this area to see how it's supposed to look.

here are some pictures of that same area on a 70 gran coupe. I'm looking for pics of this area, but on a 70 Challenger.

Thanks
Tav

How does the valance fit? The old ones from year one I had looked great but was told here the valance areas would need some work for it to fit.As well as the gas filler.
I sold them to a member who just needed parts of them. And got the "new" Goodmark ones

Yep, that's the problem, they're the old Year One skins installed about 7 years ago before the new ones were available.

A regular gas cap might work with them, but a flip top just won't mount. The opening isn't recessed enough. Same thing with the marker lights, they wouldn't wit down flush with the panel. I realized this before the panel was installed and had the body guy leave my original gas opening, marker lights, & body line. It was basically just used as a lower quarter patch panel, which was all I really needed anyway.

The body guy bent the mounting edges of the original valance to make it fit the repro skins and then drill new valance mounting holes in the skins. It looks a little funky from just below the taillights on down. If only I could get a body guy that didn't screw something up for every thing he fixed, maybe the car would be done by now.

You can check out some of my work here, on a 70 Challenger using the old repop quarters.

This a 71 but is all original sheet metal except for the valance. It has been changed since.

Good luck with those POS 1/4's, Tav. They were made by Goodmark. When I bought mine 7 years ago for my 73, that was all that was available.

After the 1/4's were installed & painted, I discovered that the gas cap and markers wouldn't fit... Since my markers fit flush, we were able to elongate the marker stud holes to mount them correctly. Your markers are recessed, so that will be an issue.

As for your gas cap, GOOD LUCK. The flush cap or the flip-top AIN'T GONNA FIT. I had to go to my buddy's Mopar boneyard and have him cut an original gas cap opening from a rusty 1/4. I cut out the re-pop, POS, mis-shaped opening and slid the original opening in on the backside of the 1/4, and then bolted my filler neck and flip-top capo in place. NOT exactly OE, but no one has ever noticed...

Since the car was already painted, sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do...

Also, I think that the bottoms of the 1/4's curve in too much. My original rear valance was too long to fit the opening between the lower 1/4's... I had to pie-cut and re-weld the valance to make it fit. Again, no one has ever noticed, but it pissed me off...
