I have a rival thats trying to catch my Dart on the track. The car in question weighs about 3300 lbs and has a 311 cubic inch small block in it.It has a fair solid cam ,decent street alum heads ,a predator carb ,4.30 gears ,8.5 slicks ,and slapper bars. They had a 4 spd (2.56 low) in it before .It had a best of 7.99 in the 1/8th and 12.59 @ 106 in the 1/4 with a 1.73 60'.The guy that drove it was good and powershifted well ,and launched at 5000 or so.They have since stepped up to a 3spd auto with a higher first gear and a 5000 stall(but wont stall past 4000 in testing).I am thinking they wont see 11's with this setup ,since its a high rever that seems to shift best at 6800 and has low torque #'s.I am thinking more like 12.20's or 12.30's with this auto trans and convertor only stalling to 4000 .What do think ???Thanks for your opinion ...

I dont know why they would shift a buzz motor at 6800
rpm... if they up the shift RPM I think it'll do about
11.90 but they will have to launch right on the converter,
plus they should send the converter back to get
loosened up(close to 6000)
EDIT
any idea what it weighs......if they continue to
shift like before it will be lucky to see 12.30

Thanks Mr.P Body. The car weighs about 3300 .Dont think it will make 11.70 with the current convertor ?I was figuring that the higher 1st gear and extra drag of the auto over the stick would costs them more ,but i will take your word on anything drag racing ... They are affraid to buzz it higher ,because they have stock resized rods .I call any motor that shifts over 6000 a high rever ,even though its really not i guess.A high rever would proly be one that sees 8000 -9000...

I can only speak from my experience with my Duster.. with the 833, speed shifter as best as I could, I managed a best time of 11.84 once.. most runs was in the 12's... after converting over to the 727, I can run between 11.2x and 11.4x all day long..
