My fender tag has a D21 for the tranny was that code also stenciled on the tranny? Thanks

D21 just tells you four speed. The number on the transmission tells you which four speed and for which application.

So is there a stenciled number that goes there and how do you find out what number goes there? Thanks

The number stenciled on the case is the last three digits of the transmission part number. (Same three digits are on build sheet)

Which helps you if you have your build sheet.

Do auto trans cars get these stenciled numbers too? (all trans got them right?)

No the auto trans has the part number stamped on the pan rail

I will ASSuME the 3 speed has it , but otherwise yes manual trans ONLY, at least I have NEVER seen it on an auto trans , I'm sure someone will come up with a picture of one now that I used the word ONLY
