what about the concern that it's not always e85, some times it on 70 -75
or winterblends?

Mid summer isnt a problem... but I check the drop
sheets at the station to see what the percentage of
alky it is.... they drop X gals of alky and X gals of
regular into the same tank OR you can get a tester
from Quick Fuels

Well I'm finally going to try this E85 stuff. I stopped at Jegs and picked up the Quick Fuel conversion kit and an alcohol rebuild kit. So next Friday I'm going to hit test n tune and see how it works. I'm currently running a Holley 950

I did a home conversion on a Holley 950 and it worked OK, but it really needed the boosters changed to optimize it for E85. If you can't get it rich enough to slow down the car (then lean for optimum), look into having boosters swaged in that will flow more fuel.

Is there a problem with E85 ruining oil like is the case with methanol? S/F....Ken M

No its nothing like meth... get get it warmed up
before your run... I get to about 185 degrees at the
end of my run each time and when I get back to my pit
spot and shut it down it back to about 165... I havent
seen hardly any oil contamination, I went last season
with 1 oil change mid season and it still looked good

And I fill a 55 gallon fuel drum whenever I go to the station. In late summer, buy enough to last until the summer blend comes out in late spring or so. Call and test.

I tried this, went to 4 different places , asked the attendants, you would have thought I asked them to explain Nuclear fusion. In fact on the pump it states to ask the attendant which blend is currently being sold, They didn't know anything about it.

None of them know....or care, you have to ask to
see the drop sheets for the E-85... they will have
to get off their butts to look for it but all the trucks
have to give them the drop sheets.... I get my fuel
from Meijer and even the woman manager found it, now
she knows me.

I called the semilocal station that has E85 about their drop sheets. I messed up because I called from work ( I work for the state of OK environmental regulatory agency, no Im not an environmentalist, LOL). The girl who answered the phone obviously read the Caller ID. She started sturrering, everything is legal, we do it by the book, etc.

I reassured my call was not work related, finally I had to call the main office. The lady there was very helpfull and gave me the latest drop sheet info and told me to call back anytime.
