The bolts and any other contact the cell has with the floor pan grounds it.

I put one on my aluminum cell just to appease the ignorant tech guy. It's bolted to the chassis, no ground strap needed.

it's ok to butt heads, just don't do it with a butthead

as per NHRA rule book

"Non metallic fuel cells or tanks must be grounded to the frame. "

SO, no your aluminum fuel cell does not need to have a ground strap.

No, but some tech guys still think so.

So take your rule book with you, turn it to the General Regs. Section - Fuel cells - and show them. They will have to let it pass.

I had to do that with a page from National Dragster when there was a mid-year change in the rules a few years back on "NOS bottle heaters". (which ARE allowed as long as they are thermostatically controlled and unmodified from the manufacturers design).

So that is the exact wording? How do you ground a non metallic fuel cell, with a non metallic wire?

Reality check, that half the population is smarter then 50% of the people and it's a constantly contested fact.

The cap and assembly it goes into usually has metal in it. So, if nothing else is metal, that may still need to be grounded.

On a metal tank, that assembly could be insulated from the rest by the gaskets!

HaHA (where is a "knee-slap" smilely??)

Yes that is the exact wording, and the exact meaning is intended to help reduce the chances of a static spark. Therefore, the metal trim ring on the cap assembly should be grounded.

Never had any problems with any of my s/s cells. Mine or the ones I've made for a few guys..Like was mentioned, bring a rulebook or have them show you theirs.

When you decide to quit, THAT is the moment when you would've succeeded..
